Thu, June 23, 2005 - 6:11 PMI also love Zarzuela. If you want something a little different though, there's a tapas place in North Beach called lluna Basque. The food is basque instead of spanish so there's more seafood things. Everything is very tasty, but plates are even smaller than normal tapas places. They have a happy hour though! I think only select wines and appetizers are discounted, but well worth it. I think of this place as a small splurge. If you like red wine as much as I do, get any of their rioja wines! -

Thu, June 23, 2005 - 6:34 PMI love Bocadillos (next door to Bubble Lounge)--Gerald Hirigoyen's (of Piperade) place. Ahhh, Serrano ham! It's a cute spot to boot.
Iluna Basque is yummy too, and open late, but the cook, Mattin, is pretty young--he used to work for Gerald and I have to say, Gerald's is the one who really shows his experience through his dishes.

I actually like Esperpento near 24th and Valencia better than Ramblas. I think Esperpento is more authentic. Check it out... its right near Bugaloos, Alma and
Rasoi.
Ramblas is good, though. We are lucky to have such a great selection of tapas.
Mmmm.. sangria.

Sad - dish size, price and quality of food has changed dramatically for me. I always appreciated the consistency of this restaurant.

Fri, March 7, 2008 - 3:02 PMI went to Zarzuela last night. It was pretty much perfect. I would have been completely happy sitting and eating their bread and olive oil all night, but we actually ordered some dishes, so I didnt want to fill up. Everything we ordered was very tasty.
