The enormity of China's population is mind-numbing.
Just in children alone (5-12 years) China has 300 million.
That is a lot of noise if they ever got into the same room together!
Government officials are praising the one-child policy as having limited the population rate by 400 million, but that has also brought with it problems.
The cultural preference for boys, now means that 118 boys are born for every 100 girls.
It has been projected that by 2020 there will be 40 million men who will have to lead the life of a frustrated bachelor.
If Mao was still around, maybe he would suggest they be exported to the US, as he offered to do with 'excess' chinese women when talking with Kissinger in the 70's.

"One more baby means one more tomb" and "The mother earth is too tired to sustain more children" are catchy.
Enough children already.

Re: 400,000,000 births prevented
Sat, February 23, 2008 - 6:21 PMTo quote Brian Eno's song, "China, My China"
China, my China
I've wandered around and you're still here
Which I guess you should be proud of
Your walls have enclosed you
Kept you at home for thousands of years
But there's something I should tell you
All the young boys
They are dressing like sailors
I remember a man who jumped
Out from a window over the bay
There was hardly a raised eyebrow
The coroner told me
This kind of thing happens every day
You see, from the pagoda
The world is so tiny
