yes, i posted this in the sweden tribe but that place is pretty dusty...

i'm planning to visit [couch surf] Sweden for some 24 hour daylight during the summer solstice; june 19-21, yes?

i would like to experience the festival during that time, and get really deep into the culture. what is the best place for this? i hear that for 24 hour light i need to go up into the arctic circle. 24 hour light would be ideal but do you think it's worth it? maybe somewhere the festivities are better even if the light is less than 24 hours?

but i am also concerned about fitting in. how is the culture there? are they happy to receive visitors? it seems that the really traditional celebrations are very family-centric where people wear traditional dress, and my traveling friend and i will not fit in or be accepted. maybe it makes sense to go somewhere with a more modern, communal version of the celebration? or should i do my best to experience the true culture and find a Couch Surfing host that will include us? what do you think would be best? please give some of your insight!
