    Hey Zahira -

    Looks as if my attempt to join this tribe worked this time!

    As you know I am interested in Sephardic songs. I have some resources on the shelf but have been too absorbed in Irish music (and mundane stuff) to delve into it much. I will make a point of digging into it before the harvest moon. Apparently there is some controversey about how old some pieces really are, but at least the Sephardic "root" songs are generally old (15th century or so).

    Oh, that brings up a question - with regard to "period" music, are we here talking about Turkish/Arabic/Berber (etc) sources or are we talking about other medieval songs or tunes that can be used for drum and dance relatively easily? For example, are the Cantigas de Santa Maria in scope? Just asking, I dont really have a focus here.
