Charleston Burner scene?

Hi there - in the event that I am accepted to MUSC, I would move to Charleston after 8 years in San Fran. I like Charleston a lot, but finding the right mix of events and people would take the sting out of the re-adjustment. So how are the goings-on in SC?

If you love SF, I wouldn't recommend moving to Charleston - I've never met any burners from there, or anywhere around it. I had a few friends who lived there, but they didn't like it, and most have moved either back to Columbia or on to Atlanta.

Aside from the occasional show in Mt. Pleasant, I can't think of any reason I've ever gone to Charleston for anything (art, music, general fun stuff) other than a trip to the beach (in almost ten years of SC life).

I'm not really sure you could pick a more opposite city to SF, than Charleston.

Charleston has a very small handful of very dedicated burners, but they don't have a critical mass to even make local meet and greets happen there. They are into setting up and running great artistic DJ booths at various burns. Last year they set up the DJ and dance area at Transformus which had a theme of the four elements. There were for wodden towers at the corners of the dance area, each tower had some kind of activity in it related to one of the elements. You pressed a button to make the activity happen.

The one whose name I think I know is "Dave", and he is a very cool DJ who is also into mixing live music and acoustic music into his mixes.

I am horrible with names, though, so I may have his name wrong. Sorry guy, if I do. :(

No, you're right. You're referring to our very own Dave the Rave or DTR, who is fantastic and an absolute joy to have spinning for the (fire)spinning. I believe DTR may also be one of the BM regional contacts in SC, so that may be a method of contacting him.
