just wondering what everyone else is up to in terms of writing. feel free to update us all on any developments and so forth. i've been working on a sci-fi/action novel titled "A Moment in Time: Section 41" for four years now. its almost 99,000 words long, my lengthiest title yet! i'm damn proud of it, and it just keeps getting better. i want to one day make it into a movie, where i would write and direct, obviously.

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 9:27 AMWow! 99,000 words! I don't have anything that lengthy.
I have two novel (series) ideas, but have very little written on them, besides notes/outlines. The main one is fantasy, but there are hidden sci-fi elements. The other is pure sci-fi.
I write in some 'campfires' on writing.com. In one, I've written 38,000+ words. That's the piece I'm most proud of.
If anyone here hasn't been to writing.com, campfires are pieces of writing by a group. Each writer takes a turn on the story, then the next goes. Think of telling a story around a campfire (hence the name).
And, like most writers, I have random ideas bouncing around my head, begging to get on paper. -

Mon, October 10, 2005 - 10:34 AMwow that sounds like fun! i'm gonna go try it out.

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 11:43 AMI've been in that campfire for about a year. It's called 'Undead War,' if you have any interest in reading it.
www2.writing.com/main/camp..._id/910276
My additions are between 1/2 and 2/3 of the whole campfire. It's a joke that I'm physically incapable of writing short additions. I average about 10-15 single spaced pages per addition. The others usually write between a couple paragraphs and a few pages.
Wow. I sure like to babble, don't I? Forgive me if I bore you. -

Mon, October 10, 2005 - 11:46 AMOh, duh, my 'handle' on writing.com is ShadowDawn. So, if you do read it, look for the ones that begin with [ShadowDawn].

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Tue, October 11, 2005 - 11:39 AMits about a young girl set in our time that is pretty much normal. her family moves to a new state where she doesnt know anyone and its the start of a new year. the property they own is quite large and after exploring she finds a cove where she discovers a mermaid (which of course she doesn't believe in ;) ) so the story takes off from there and they have adventures. hmm i dont know if how i described it there is very good but i have it all played out in my head anyway and have the prologue and chapter one finished and I'm almost done with chapter two! -

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 10:41 AMI'm working on the sixth* (and, so far as I know, final) book in my series, which is currently at about the 60,000-word mark and with a fair amount of story left to go. And I've got a short fiction piece that I've just begun and which is still in the "flailing about" stages.
* This might actually end up being the seventh, since the fourth is long enough that I might have to split it into two volumes. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Tue, December 25, 2007 - 10:34 PMI've got about 5 in the work at the moment (attention deficet helps me keep the plots seperate) but get discouraged since I can't seem to get them to reach my 300 pg minimum goal.
I keep feeling I must be missing something and end up on the continuous rewrite circle -

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 11:09 AMfinding something that you actually want to write 300 pages of is difficult. I've never made it past 200, myself. -

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 12:32 PMThe one I have ready to go out now is 286. That's the furthest I've gotten myself so far. But, that's before publication count. It's probably alot less after.

Plus editing three chapters from this years nano to post on a contest site :) Along with that it's plotting a new idea, writing on my nano novel book two and trying to find a new idea for a writing class i'm taking in Jan. wow writing it all out like that looks like a lot!

Re: what kind of projects are you all working on?
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 10:09 AMI thought I had already posted here but I guess not. I am working on a young adult fantasy novel (may be turning into a 3 part series... The mind monsters are taking over.) The story is centered around a young woman who is suddenly taken into a world of dragons, elves and magic. I don't want to go into too much detail. I feel like I am having an out of body experience, or maybe I posted this on another tribe thread. Oh, it is around 160 pages, no idea on word count. I guess I will worry about that went I get all my ideas down. I am almost finished with the rough draft, the ending is in sight. At least I think it is, as long as the mind monsters don't start throwing in more twists and turns.
