Well, I'm not pure Scott but a Canadian blend. Some French got in and Alsatian (not the dog - Bow Wow - nor the wine but the Catholic German strain - ugh). I also am one sixteenth native Indian (it does blend in well with the Scottish features and makes for one serious stoic affair) Are Scots stoic?
I'm having trouble with the French part though as it just wants to drink wine, have gourmet meals and fun (we call it joie de vivre) but I'm stubborn as hell, never ever give up especially in a fight (I've beaten up French men). I also have a practical turn of mind and am inventive on top of everything else and sometimes underneath everything else.
Oh, yes, I'm a green-eyed witch! I do all that ESP stuff.
Will you let me in the pound?
Because of our historical pattern there is a large Scottish diaspora. Any more mongrels (and how stubborn are you? That is a Scottish trait isn't it?)

Sat, November 11, 2006 - 8:04 PMEnaid,
I would be happy to have you in the scottish pound with me any time. Having read your bio and some of your posts you would be one of great thoughts and opinion. Having said that who am I to say who is welcome or not. On a recent trip to Scotland I found I was welcomed no matter where we went. So welcome to the group and make yourself at home and enjoy some black pudding, haggis, smoked kippers and tender lamb with rosemary sauce with a dram of single malt whiskey to help it down.

Sun, November 12, 2006 - 7:04 AMI was in Scotland too and the people were very welcoming.
They run the Edinburg Festival, one of the biggest cultural festivals in Europe on a shoe string (of course, being Scottish). I think the whole thing runs on a government grant of the equivalent of 10 000$ CAN.
They have a bloody history however as the Edinburg Museum shows. I have a friend who visited and it was just roomful upon roomful of war implements. He was sufficiently impressed and had a good dark humor laugh explaining his tour to me.
I also know of a Canadian judge who visited and was pleasantly surprised with the people's niceness. Upon asking why that was and why was the history so bloody (though not more than elsewhere I am sure) he was simply answered: "well, with the neighbors we have".

"well, with the neighbors we have"
That's hysterical! Typical economy, this time with words. My clan was on the border, so I can appreciate this one all the more.
