I was thinking of doing a New Orleans report, but then it occured to me that this is a Springdale tribe. So what's the news there?

Report from the Big Easy

OK your roving reporter from New Orleans has been a littleout of sorts. OK so I haven't been able to report as I have not been in the city at all for all of September. As of October 2 I was finally able to go back and look though not stay. So to bring you up to date on happenings in the Big Easy I am will ready and able to fill you in on what I saw.

if i could choose one wird to describe it all I would have to choose surreal. That being said here goes.

The scenes:

Uptown at 1454 Saint Mary St #2 also known as Grace's Bed and Breakfast or my humble abode where people tend to drift in and out of on a regular basis. Kitchen is out of commission due largely to no eletric and the ugly black horror that was my fridge which is now on the curb.

The French Quarter is the cleanest I have ever seen it in my life save for the larger than normal trash piles. The smell was different. Rotting food over the smell of piss and vomit. I can't say that it was worse though.

Lakefront I can't even describe the devistation here. If you want an idea look at the pictures in my profile. I just posted two there. They should be easy to recognize.

The people:

Uptown there were very few. Many were moving out or trying to clean up debris but all very friendly. Even the crazy guy who gave us a cold beer.

French Quarter was alive. I mean truly alive like it was a Saturday afternoon except there were no tourists. In that aspect it was odd. All the same people were out and laughing, drinking and yes even eating. I myself had a fabulous burger at the Royal Street grocery. Funny thing about all this mess. So many uber christians are saying this was the wrath of "God" because New Orleans is a haven for sin and homosexuality. Funny thing about that was the Pub one of the biggest gay bars in New Orleans was open and fully operational. I do mean fully. There were men spilling out of that bar from every availible opening. That really did my heart good

Lakefront only saw one person. We was a worker helping to clear trees. He didn't really say anything but I couldn't talk either.

Predictions for the city:

We WILL come back. It might not be exactly the same but it will be something close.

We WILL have Mardi Gras this year. No I am not crazy. Two things make me make this prediction. 1) All the MArdi Gras Floats did not get damaged as they were on the West Bank which sustained very little damage. 2) One of my best friends works at the largest Mardi Gras Bead companies in greater New Orleans and they are back and fully operational. Say what you like. It might be small but ass will be on Saint Charles Street on Fat Tuesday with a drink in hand cheering for stupid plastic trash. Anyone welcome.

Pissed at work

Yes I did send this to the headshread and I feel soooo much better!

Due to circumstances beyond my control I did vent and press the send button. Part of me is glad and part of me now regrets sending it. BUT If someone doesn't push back every now and again I feel like we just get hammered every time we turn around for things that we try to comply with and then I hear or read something "SHITTY!". "YES I DO TAKE IT VERY PERSONAL "IT" being this job! I am not sure but I do know from experience that negativity breeds negativity. (HENCE MY EMAIL) I am VERY tired of all the negative energy that flows (especially down hill!) Every time someone does something or doesn't do something. I DO NOT NEED TO KNOW when "BOBBY< PEGGY< RICKY or MARK" does something wrong. How about a thank you to all the stores that did comply? Bitch bitch bitch is what I feel I read every day and maybe it's my bad week! The funeral last night didn't help any! ANYHOW! I have had it bottled up for over a year now and I mainly wanted to vent, next time I will type it and hit delete, but just for the record I've done that a few times.

Marty, I do appreciate the fact that you probably hear 10 times more than I ever would hear and Scott the same to you. Sorry for any addition I have added to the stress. Next time I will just complain in our inner cycle and "pretend" "THEY" don't matter. I also thank you both for the cudo's we do get and that filter down. I was just VERY VERY VERY tired up opening up my email to yet ANOTHER list of "YOU BETTER START DONG WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO'S!" Why IS IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO difficult to speak with those that you need to instead of scolding everyone and treating us like we are two... (even though I regressed to their age yesterday). I figure if you smack all ten dogs in the head every time one shits on the floor, eventually one that takes it personal will end up biting back.

I do feel better now and FYI the safety meeting notes are on the way.

Bored in the basement

Im stuck in an office with no windows in the basment of the Superdome working on my budget. On the bright side my commute today is 5 min. So to combat the workday duldrums, I turn to you oh gurus of pop music to relive a bit of the boredom. Have any of you noticed that the Killers sound like an 80's New Wave band? Particularly "Smile Like you Mean It" seems to have the sound of "Echo and the Bunnymen" to me. Everyone seems to be going gaga over them down here because of their "new" sound. Anyone else noticed this or is the alcohol soaked air, humidity, and heat finally affecting my brain?

WHO IN THE HELL TURNS OFF STEVIE?
You could get knocked out for doing that. I hate people who's ears are still stuck in the anal cavity even after they "THINK" they've pulled their head out! That popping sound you hear is when the ears are suppose to clear the sphincter muscle. How a dumb ass could reach up and try to take Stevie Wonder out of the CD player because it's getting on their nerves is beyound me!

Advise: If you don't like what you hear... please remove yourself (and your spincter) from the area, NOT THE CD!

Jaded in a store!

Is it just me or after working in retail for this long now is anyone else on the look out for the individual out to make an extra buck EVERYTIME you set foot into a place? Add ons, BIGGY SIZE ME, give me yo money, "Would you like to buy the extended warranty with that?" (I have a question......shouldn't the shit come with a guarantee that it's a gonna f'n work when I get it home in the first F'n place!?") Just a late night thought after a chat with Jack! That's Mr Daniels to you... and yes he f'n talked me into the BIG ASS Bottle and I bought some lemons to go in the glass as well. No I didn't need to buy the extra add on pills that keep you from feeling shitty in the morning either!

Recruiting/ Merchandising

I was thinking (I know a stretch there.... plus that could open a hole new thread) that we should start a recruiting campaign. I figure the more people with a contection to the TC Bitches area whom can contribute this mind expanding experience the better.

Anyone else with an idea please feel free to add to this list:

(we'll need a cool logo for the front) and I am thinking the slogan "Don't talk to me unless you plan to buy sompun Beeaach!" could go on the back.

Those who haunt tha Dale have heard tell of the world's most irate geese. They honk and they charge your car. Now they have babies. I think. The babies look like ducks and in fact they may be ducks. Of course, if the ducks and pissed-off geese align, they might throw the aquatic avian world out of balance. Perhaps Paul Wolfowitz should be informed...
