I followed the directions on hooping.org to make a hoop and added a cup of water before I sealed up the joint. Now my hoop makes sloshy noises. The one I tried at burningman didn't make that sloshy noise. It's not really a functional problem as much as I think the water isn't supposed to slosh around like that so it's bothering me. Should I pop it open and fill up the entire tube?

Re: I made my first hoop and I think there's a problem
Wed, September 16, 2009 - 1:44 PMI wouldn't add more water if I were you. Just keep that hoop as your water hoop, and make another, nonwater hoop. the water hoop is great for waist hooping, & gives you a nice massage around the middle. But it's not too good for off-body hooping, because the water wants to flow in a different pattern than the hoop. If you fill it up with water it will be way too heavy.

Re: I made my first hoop and I think there's a problem
Mon, September 28, 2009 - 11:05 AMIf you're still wondering about this, I agree entirely with Merilieu. Weighted hoops (with water, sand, or whatever) end up being nice "groove hoops" - hoops that you use *just* for basic on-body hooping, but most of us don't like weighted hoops because it throws off the balance of the hoop and makes it harder to do the fun moves we're all so fond of. :)
