Hello All, longtime member of portland tribes and burner, now reaching out to the seattle community for help putting on a flash mob experiment.
As best man for a wedding, I've got a wacky and crafty groom and I'm looking to put on a human checkers/chess game as a part of the bachelor party celebration.
Something along the lines of History of the World part I. "pawn jump queen. bishop jump queen. knight jump queen. Everybody Jump the Queen!" Or if you prefer more contemporary, harry potter's life size chess.
The concept being that speed games of no more than 5 min per side would keep everyone way engaged and needing to pay attention. Dress up for the pieces is logistically possible. If we went checkers...it'd be black and red t-shirts.
I'm looking for advice from the community on how to put this on as a flash mob experiment. We'd need 32 people per chess board (probably only one board). We're looking to put it on in a public place, june 17th, in seattle, with concrete and use something like spray chalk for the board squares (open to suggestions on this). The idea being that people stand on top of our van and u-haul (we're going to be a roving party) calling out pieces to squares in timed games. I don't know what to expect from authorities, who to contact in advance, and how to get people to show other than broadcasting on the BM list serves...so I'm looking for somone interested in taking us on as a flash mob mentor or advice from ya'lls... We've got about 10 guys willing to throw resources and labor into putting this on.
I submit myself to the mercy of the tribe!
