hi everyone - just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. i'm quite happy to stumble upon this tribe. i have a 17 year old cat! her name is Abbey, and she's in amazing health for her age. she has slowed down a bit over the years, not as active, but otherwise, she's doing great. i've never had a pet for this long, so i'm learning as the years go by how to make life for Abbey the best they can be in her senior years. i love my golden girl! :) i'll post a picture of her here. nice to be part of this tribe.

She's a beautiful girl. My 17 yr old and I have been squabbling about the knots in her fur, which she won't let me brush out. So we had a scissors session this morning and now we are both happier, but one of us is somewhat less lovely. :)

thank you for your comment back. oh so you have a 17 year old kitty too? :)
awww, too bad about the knots in her hair, but glad you were finally able to get them out! does she not like to be brushed, or does her fur just get in knots easily?

I think her skin has become more sensitive with age. She doesn't have as much tolerance for brushing as she udes to. And her fur knots easily. Soetimes she looks like Rasta Cat. Anyway, welcome.

Hi everyone! I just joined. We have a 10 year old boy kitty with small cell lymphoma, a 5 year old girl, and just adopted another 6 month old girl.
Our boy is doing well on prednisolone and luekeran and a low-carb diet. He was diagnosed about 3 years ago. I guess it is a little-understood type of cancer, even in humans, but he has a less virulent type.

We our sweet Usul (the kitty in my picture) to CRF last year. She lived a good life 2 years to the day after her diagnosis despite going blind and needing sub Q's every day. If anyone needs any CRF advise, I'm your girl.

By the way, I'm in the Portland, OR area. Is there anyone else on this tribe from my area? I was thinking when my Usul was struggling with CRF that I should start some kind of network in the area. We went 2 years without taking even a weekend trip because we didn't know anyone we could trust/knew how to administer treatment to her.

I'd be happy to be called on by anyone who needs my sub Q experience in the area; hopefully, I won't need support with that again for quite some time.

    Welcome.
I have a 16 year old Tomcat who I love terribly. In 2004 he came down with bladder stones. He came through surgery wonderfully and is now on a prescription diet, distilled water and two medications a day. He's just starting to show his age in the fact that he doesn't leap as high as he used to. But he's still going strong and my husband and I will do our best to give him the best healthcare and quality of life we can.
