Saturday
9:00 – 9:30 am: Yoga Warm Up with Valori Jenne
Join Valori Jenne, an experienced yoga instructor, for a short ½ hour yoga warm up to prepare you for the rest of the day!
9:30 am – 12:30 pm: Tribal Belly Dance Meets Flamenco! with Silvia Salamanca
A gypsy Spanish twist to tribal movements and combinations. Combine the precision and sharpness of tribal with the fire of flamenco expression and you get a series of exciting steps, combinations and short routine to take home and leave everybody speechless! Emphasis will be put on posture, arms and spins. Bring a skirt and your best ole!
1:30 – 4:30 pm: Flamenco Style Skirt Dance with Angela Nations
Angela will use the Flamenco fusion belly dance movements and style taught by Silvia during the
morning workshop to teach an exciting skirt dance. Bring a full gypsy-style skirt.
7:00– 9:30 pm: HAFLA!
Join us for a celebration of belly dance in all its forms (including cabaret and tribal) in this evening show from to be held in the grand ballroom at the Blue Bubble Ballroom. The first part of the evening (from 7:30 to 9:30) will include performances by belly dance solists and groups. Special guests will include the ladies of Shunyata Belly Dance (Silvia and Angela), and drummer Lauren Checchio.
Sunday
9:30 am – 12:30 pm: Drum Workshop with Lauren Checchio
Join Lauren in an exploration of drum rhythms, starting with basic drum rhythms and then expanding and building on basic rhythms. Both the beginner and experienced drummer will learn something from Lauren.
1:30 – 4:30: Hands, Hips and Spins, Elements of the Fire of the Spanish Gypsies with Silvia
In this workshop we will learn the art of the beautiful hands and arms from flamenco and how to combine it with your oriental dance to add spark to it. Plus, we will get you spinning like a passionate gitana too! Can we ask for more? Yes! A modern time routine based on this ancient art! Ole!
Other exciting activities available during this gala weekend:
• Fabulous vendors providing everything from costumes to jewelry.
• Professional Photographer available to take pictures of you in your best costume (by appointment) or during the Hafla.
