    Hi Kyle,

Most of the training regimes are meant to not be told outside the lineage. You can find them in books sometimes, but they will often be incomplete.

Commonalities you will usually see are: A specific formula of dit da jiao. Qigong exercises to increase the qi in the body and lead it to the palms. Sexual and dietary restriction to transform jing into qi. Palm striking with various hand forms, against various kinds of bags - sand, gravel, BB's, etc. Some of the southern forms I've seen (white eyebrow/southern mantis) also incorporate hand strengthening into this aspect of training.

These are powerful internal kung fu, my personal reccomendation would be to find a teacher you respect who can show the methods to you.

My own teacher spoke of different levels of practice, one in which celibacy is required, daily practice without fail is required, and other things in order to develop the true "iron palm"
On the outer level of training, you can do some of the breathing exercises, and palm strikes without too much intensity, use the dit da jiao, and develop a strong palm with good qi flow.
this outer practice can be safe to do without a teacher, as long as you are moderate with it. With more intensive practices there are just too many problems that can arise that a student might not be able to figure out him/herself.

i believe that James McNiel has some books/DVD's out on Iron Palm training. look up his website littlenineheaven.com or something like that.

    good luck

    Hello Kyle,
Christian's reply is pretty much on target. I have recently started my iron palm training with Dale Dugas in Quincy MA. He is a person of high integrity and really knows his herbal formulas. He is one of the few instructors out there who really wants to share and teach this art in its entirety. His website is www.ironpalmcombat.com. He just came out with a DVD as well.

Sifu Mc Niels material is also very good.

Choose your "Medicine" wisely and stick to it.

    Good luck in your quest.

    Kyle,

Anytime you have questions about iron palm training or dit da jow feel free to contact me through Tribe or you can email me at daledugas@coilingdragon.com

Whatever system of Iron Palm training you decide to train on you should see if the results are what you are looking for. If the end result is not something you want or desire you should seek out the program that does.

    Be well, train hard
