on the Teaching Yoga Tribe, there was an interesting post suggesting that perhaps teachers would choose to teach yoga by donation in order to avoid paying any taxes -- stealing from the government -- and to attain celebrity and riches. i was a bit shocked. what i'm actually working with is really incredibly confusing tax paperwork and figuring how to keep sufficiently meticulous records that i don't have trouble down the line, to maintain real honesty and integrity in what i'm doing. i mean the choice to teach in this way was one towards greater integrity with my own internal sense of yoga. you can see the original post at this thread if you're interested:

I read her post and she meant nothing harmful by it. You feel sensitive perhaps because both mercenary and narcissistic aims have been attributed to your attempt to live and serve selflessly.
You are offering far more than you probably realize.
