check out the Yoga Mob Tribe.

from her discussion boards:

"The Concept:

I have been given an amazing 4000 sq foot live/work warehouse space. I want to share this space with the yoga community by offering it to teachers free of charge. Teachers will receive 100% of the donations collected for their classes. I will promote the classes through emails, a website, flyers, etc. This lack of overhead will be passed along to the community in the form of fun/funky/inexpensive instruction. I foresee the donations ranging from $5 to $12 based on ability to pay.

I move into the warehouse on Sept 15. The forming of Yoga Mob will start around the 1st of October.

The Mission & Intention:

- Offer a fun and safe space to practice yoga
- Maintain the integrity and unity of Yoga as a mind/body/spirit practice
- Offer inexpensive classes to those who wish to practice with a group
- Meet new people and form a community around the practice

That’s the shape of it so far. I envision this to be an egalitarian collective. These are my ideas for the project. This will be a living/changing/organic organization; therefore, everyone who becomes involved will take part in the shaping of the mission, concept, and operations of Yoga Mob. Please post your ideas about this project."

yippeeeeee! Finally, a design that truly supports the student, the teacher, the teacher-student relationship and the community. It sounds like this would also allow for the "do as i do" approach to teaching, or led practices, which are not so welcome in the studios. I'm interested in participting . . .
