First of all, I want to thank all those making yoga something I can do without spending a lot of money.
Now I can no longer use that excuse! Next, I'd be happy to listen to advice anyone has for a beginner like me.
Such as getting a mat to use. What clothes are best to wear? Or maybe even there is some book like "Yoga for Dummies" which I could read.
Well, thats it, except for finding a a specific place to go start this. I guess I am all set...

Re: New to yoga & 'tribe' too really.
Tue, September 22, 2009 - 8:56 AMWhat I suggest to beginners is:
Yoga Mat: start with something inexpensive (of course). they sell mats everywhere now from Walgreens to Target. up to $20.
Yoga Clothes: wear stretchy, movable clothing such as shorts or sweat pants
Books: I think they do have a yoga for dummies book out there now. Try amazon.com and plug in yoga books for beginners. I like Yoga: The Iyengar Way
As for classes, I would look for an introductory or beginner series in your area. Start simple and build up.
Good luck!
