PublicNet SF Coalition - http://Public.FreeMuni.Net - was started to help ferret out the realities of this deployment. Members include technologists, professionals, radio engineers, end-users, digital inclusion advocates, low-income/underrepresented citzens and others.

This tribe to discuss the future of Internet broadband access on a municipal scale in San Francisco including the efficacy and developments around the Earthlink/Google contract.

Currently, Earthlink is having a terrible time both deploying WiFi in major cities, acquiring subscribers and on the Stock Exchange. Google, its would-be partner, is planning its own deployment of WiFi after announcing its $4.6 BILLION plan to take over some of the 700 MHz band later this year.

It is time to voice your opinion of the facts and realities about municipal WiFi as it has been sold by the Mayor to the public and about your experiences with Earthlink's Internet services.
