Lets Get This Tribe Going!!!

Greetings All,
My name is Greg, I live in Jerome Arizona, been veg for 1 1/2 years.
I've been looking for a "family" oriented veg site and noe posts here since January?
Anyone still interested on topics here?

Ok so I am 42m in Jerome. By the way Jerome is a town of 400 nestled on the side of a mounain in Northern Arizona. It's cooer because the elev is mile high. Jerome is full of art galleries, shops, some restaurants, two bars and no industry like gas stations and supermarkets or convenience stores.
There is a loarge gay population here and many of the galleries and rstaurants are family owned. It's a cool place to be.
I became vegetarian 1 1/2 years ago after watching Meet Your Meat on PETA. It was life changing because I never knew how it really was. SInce then I research, read, study and learn as much as I can, usually more than I want to about animals, enivronment, fur, cruelty, and try to do what I can do to make it better.
Last year I had an 11 year old kid that found out I am veg. He said this to me: "Just because you don't eat meat isn't going to make the problem go away". Which I thought was pretty profound for an 11 year old. I thought about it and said to him "No, it won't make the problem go away, but it helps, and I don't have to support it or be a part of it, what I do makes a difference". It was interesting and he accepted it.
Anyway, I'll watch for posts on here and hopefully some goings on will go on.
Blessings from Jerome-Greg

Thanks for sharing Greg! Good comment back to the 11 yr old. Yes..I wish there were more posts as well.....but I suppose lists like this ppl dont post as much, because there are so many other veg lists and being queer and veg is just a small part of that. A trying one tho, Ive found. If I write that Im veg in a personal ad I get very few responces, but If I leave it out all of a sudden, Im flooded. It sucks. But...tis life.
Ive been veg 7 yrs and still gowing strong, and getting back to good health, fasting, and getting more into raw foods again.

    Shalom namaste

Very cool Thanks for the reply. Well, we'll just keep posting and people will see that there are new posts and possibly join the discussion.
I also, have put in personal ads that I am veg. I decided that I want people to know and if people don't respond because of that then I don't want to be with them anyway. I'm not settling. I will date someone that isn't veg but I at least want the mutual respect and understanding.

Anyway, I'll try to think of something nice as a topic..

Ill be friends with ppl who arent veg, but theres no way in hell I could date them...at least not long term. I could go on a date, etc......but beyond that a commitment from me is unlikely if they eat meat and beleive its ok to kill animals....

Yeah it's an individual choice. I believed for the first 40 years of my life that it was okay. I said I didn't think it was okay to kill animals but I ate meat for all those years.
And I may get to a point where a mate eating meat is not acceptable at all. I'm working my way slowly towards many things in this veg life, they not all happening at once.

Hey folks. It looks like thus far I am the old man here, not just age wise but in terms of being vegetarian. I have been vegetarian for32 years now. the last 16 of those 32 yrs has been spent living with full blown aids. I truly think being vegetarian is part of the reason I am still alive. I also try to eat organic as much as possible which also helps. There are so very many reasons I became vegetarian I won't go into all of them. A major factor was reading such books as The Population bomb, Silent spring, Diet for a small planet while travelling around the worls by ship. I saw the poverty and death in other parts of the world. T that time the U>S. consumed 75% of the worlds resources while having only less than 1/10th of the population. I was shocked and my body, not my mind made changes that are still with me to this day. I read another guys post about putting into his personal ad that he is veg and getting few responces... Imagine THAt coupled with saying you are hiv Poz!!!. I am NOT complaining guys. I have a very blessed life. I have shelter I can afford in an incredible spot on the planet, Santa cruz California, I am involved in two great men's groups, and I have great , loving friends. I am currently preparing for a gathering of Radical Faeries in Wolf Creek Oregon. this place is a sancturary for gay . bi, questioning men. Aplace to explore your soul, to connect with the earth. To connet with other veg gay men and to grow spiritually and personally. the gathering starts on Fri, Aug4 and goes til Aug. 13th. A long time to challenge oneself and grow. I am truly blessed to be able to be here. Generally Faerie gatherings are vegetarian meals, though there is a slight shift beginning to take place. the stars are incredible tonight. Life is good, blessed be. I am not certain how much computer access I will have while here, but look forward to hearing from everyone.... Ciao, Rick

Hey Rick...thanks for sharing! You sound like a cool guy. Perhaps we should meet sometime and compare notes.
I dont have HIV but I have many friends who do. Do you do natural healing or western meds?
I have met ppl that have stayed med free for years, and did it with a raw food vegetarian/vegan diet, proper exercise, meditation etc...and they not only take NO meds, but they have an undetectable viral load by any means!
Personally i consider them to be *cured*....of course western medicine will never agree...but then again I really dont care much for western medicine, other than in ermergency surgical types of sitations....

              Love
