The second time I imbibed the mushroom sacrament was just after I graduated highschool, a friend and I were sitting in the park, blissfully enjoying each others conscious company, letting the mushrooms kick in as we basked in the amazement of each others awareness and playfully trying to cross our eyes in a manner that lets us visualize each others third eye. Our conversation became more of a completion of each others thoughts, that click and understanding, until there came a moment where we both felt the same thing, we were conscious of the Us consciousness, I and You melted away. The first click was a brief with a moment of confusion, sort of like 'What was that?' 'There is no 'Was', and We became I again. To keep up our connection it felt as if I would push us further along the spiral and he would pull with the energy of what hed learned, teaching my consciousness something to digest so i could in turn power level us deeper. The whole night our internal and external enviroment was a conscious syncronicity, we felt this is exactly what we should be doing, this is what we pine for, this satisfies every metaneed. The clearest thing that was communicated was him telling me that hed never truly experienced love and was abused as a child, and I could feel exactly how bad it was and cried with direct empathy. The timeless hours had worn out our energy by sunlight, throughout the night to continue stimulating the connection it had degraded a bit because we needed physical manipulation of each other for serotonin drive, still clothed, a pure form of bodywork, pure tantra, occasionally needing an affectionate touch on bare skin.

Id like to talk with others whove felt this bond

Sean Wensel

Inner Work, Sacred Relationship, and Marriage

Marriages are dissolving because people, in general, have learned to look into the external world to fix their problems, rather than work through their problems internally. This is due to lack of education and information regarding inner work, the de-emphasis on the importance of spirituality and sacred relationship in daily life, and, lastly, the lack of commitment to working through problems and conflicts.

There is a lack of education and information regarding how to do inner work, and why it is so important to do inner work. This education is not implemented or integrated into our school systems, as I think it should be. Some people don’t even think about their inner lives, and solely base and focus their life on the external. Inner work is where most or all growth or serious process happens, and it should be the main focus for any solution for any conflict or problem. There needs to be less emphasis on the external, less of what is “wrong” externally, and more focus on the internal, what can be changed internally to create a better world and life internally and externally. There needs to be more education regarding the important of inner work in our schools, in our parenting, and in our conversations.

Sadly, there has been an increasing de-emphasis on the important of spirituality and sacred relationship in the daily and integrated life of central culture. People are sick of religion, because people misunderstand religion and preach this misunderstanding. This is why people get burned out on spirituality, it is because of misinterpreted preaching and pressing of ideas that have become ego-centralized and externalized. There needs to be a re-centralization of true spirituality and potentially even a universal religion in order for true fulfillment, peace, and harmony to occur in relationships and in the world. There needs to be a realization of this in order for couples to work out their differences and create a long lasting and deep respect for each other and their relationship. Without this spiritual essence, people focus and tire of the external in relationships, and then they search for new external excitements, to fufill their worldly attachments and pleasures. This is why most marriages these days do not work. Sacred relationship needs to be re-discovered, the depth and potential of the connection between two people needs to be re-embraced and respected once again.

Lastly, the lack of commitment most people have to working through their problems and conflicts is the reason marriages are dissolving. Most people aren’t willing to confront and work through their own inner issues, and would rather blame others and look externally to fix their problems. This is widespread, and is learned. Many people would rather jump from partner to partner or lover to lover, blaming everyone else for their break-ups, rather than taking responsibility, committing to a relationship, and working through their own inner issues. We see others doing this, and learn it as children. If more people worked through their own issues, more marriages and relationships would work, and people at large would re-discover the power of two people committed to each other in sacred relationship. In essence, we are spiritually and internally oriented, we work through all of our challenges and work to create our lives and our relationships internally, by working on our selves, defining our contexts and needs internally, being the partner or person that we want to be with, and in doing so creating a more harmonious, balanced and beautiful external world. This is our true nature.

Marriages are happening less frequently for a number of reasons. Here I’ve mentioned the lack of education and information regarding how to and why to do inner work, the de-centralized, de-emphasis on the importance of spirituality and sacred relationship between two people, and of course, the point I feel is most important for to look at and expand upon, the learned lack of commitment to work through problems and conflicts internally and externally, and what we can do to change all of this for the better. Something needs to be done about this, a shift needs to occur, it is occurring, and by reading this paper, contemplating it for yourself, integrating the information into your own life, talking about it with others, you are doing something about it and creating a positive shift in the world.

I've recently been exploring aspects of tantra with a beautiful friend of mine, and am curious to learn more about it from others. This all started when I quit my job in retail at the beginning of the summer intending to travel. One of my friends then convinced me to wait around for Burning Man, and I did. And on the playa, I had a traumatic life changing event that I later learned to be something similar to how Kundalini awakenings have been described. I was thrust desperately through every Jungian archetype in my psyche, from the victim to the guru and back, over and over again, for at about three hours. All of this was framed within the understanding that sexual energy is the basis for the transmutation of human consciousness into pure energy. And then, when the man came down, I wandered around the playa, laughing non-stop for about 4 hours. Needless to say, I came back from Burning Man changed, at the end of a summer that had already changed my beyond recognition, into a relationship that would change me even further. Anyway...that's the short version.
