Women's tent at Folsom needs volunteers

Venus' Playground is the women's dungeon and demo tent at the Folsom Street Fair. We are putting together a safe haven for women at Folsom which can be fun but crowded and stressful by mid afternoon. we will have a furnished dungeon and will be presenting demos throughout the afternoon at both a women's only area and a pan sexual area for our non female friends.

If you are interested is helping with this please contact me with what shift and jobs you are interested in.

Venus' Playground welcomes all who identify as women in the Past, Present and Future

Here are the volunteer shifts and jobs we need to fill at Venus’ Playground Sunday Sept 28. We have 1.5 hr shifts and for each shift we have 3 jobs to fill.

Shift times-
11:00-12:30
12:30-2:00
2:00-3:30
3:30-5:00

Door- 2 needed- Greet and let in women. Point out the rules and explain the tent to people

DM- 2 needed- patrol the dungeon area, hand out supplies, insure dungeon rules are followed. At least 1 year on the BDSM scene preferred. There will be a DMA certified coordinator in the dungeon for any questions or assistance.

Security- 2 needed- patrol the perimeter of the area both inside and outside, watching for sneaky photographers and gaps in the tent walls. There will be a security coordinator with a radio to official FSE security so you will not have to deal with unruly behavior or emergencies.

Xtc is the volunteer coordinator please either post here or contact her directly to let us know which job and shifts times interest you.

Iron Dom Contest this Saturday at the Citadel

Do they Have What It Takes?

Suppose a top was stranded on a
desert island with only the flotsam and jetsam that washed ashore with
him. After he takes care of his basic necessities, he fills his
time making toys...and we know what kind of toys!!

Eventually, someone else washes ashore and lo and behold, that person is a
BOTTOM!!! After great rejoicing and throwing a party in the new

person who washed ashore was of the incorrect gender or orientation?

in front of both audiences and judges. Oh yes... and did I mention

draw... and only have a few minutes to set their scene up before
coming out to entertain the audience?

Only those who have attended past Iron Dom contests understand how
much fun this is and how much creativity goes into the making of the
toys. This really is a must see.

This is great fun for everyone, both participants and spectators.
Come by and watch the contestants make their toys out of various
things Domina, the famous Frugal Dom, choses. Visit with your
friends. Stay for lunch and have one of Domina's Justly Famous Sloppy
Joes (Endorsed by the President of Odyssey Himself.)

We are honored to tell you that Citadel is allowing ALL PROCEEDS of
this event to go to FOOD FOR THOUGHT, the Sonoma County Aids Food Bank
where Domina Volunteers. And if you're smart, you'll stay for the
usual Saturday Night Party at the Citadel.

Remedial Ropes, Rt. II: Another trip on the bondage short bus with Stefanos and CheyThis is the perfect class for you if your bondage skills begin and end with tying your shoes. We will briefly cover the basics of bondage safety, building a rope kit, and creating a rope bondage scene. We will then teach a 5-second cuff, the figure 8 knot, a basic body harness, arm gauntlets, and the best arm binder we’ve ever seen. This is an interactive class- everyone will get tied up and everyone will learn to do the ties. Remedial Ropes 1 not required or even necessarily recommended- this is a stand-alone remedial level class.

Queer & Intersexed - Where are they welcome? Where should they be welcome? Where would they be imposing?

The below message was posted in a yahoo group & got a bit of discussion..

I recently saw a flyer for an event, a fundraiser & was curious about
it. Based on the flyer, I was not certain who is or is not welcome.

Which got me to thinking further on this issue, as it pertains to me
(and people like me). You see, I am Intersexed. Approximately 1% of
the population is intersexed (source: ISNA website). So we are in
fact out there in far more numbers than many folks realise.

I know that the society I live in is a Gendered society. I had to
select a gender to have a Yahoo email address. But they only offered
male or female. I am neither.

I am not a man, I am not a woman, I am not Trans. I am Intersexed.
I am genetically intersexed. Furthermore, I as identify as an
intersexed person. I see my orientation as Queer. Indeed, I don't
actually see it as possible for me to be homosexual, hetrosexual or
bisexual.

There are Men's Events. Women's events. Trans events. I am none of
these things. I don't want to be a man. I don't want to be a woman.
I don't want to Transition. I am happy as I am. Both male and female.

I respect that different spaces & different parties have different
rules. And I do not want to make anyone else uncomfortable.

So.. where do I fit? Where do I belong. Where would I be imposing?

My name is Sunny. I am a graduate student in the Sexuality Studies program at San Francisco State University. I am conducting research on polyamory. The aim of my study is to explore how individuals in queer polyamorous triads discuss love in their relationships. I am in search of individuals in queer, long-term (one year or longer), polyamorous triads to interview. Individuals must identify themselves and their relationships as queer, and the triads must be three people who are all sexually and romantically involved with one another.

Participating in this study will entail a 45-90 minute one-on-one interview at a comfortable and private location convenient for both of us to discuss your experiences and feelings of love while in a triad.

Most flogging is done in a downward direction. This is easiest, as gravity does the gathering for you. However, downward strokes avoid stimulating the sweet spot, so the bottom gets only endorphins, but not as much arousal. This playshop focuses on effectively flogging upward, into the sweet spot, and ways to solve the problems that arise, such as bounce, pocket, crowding, and scatter.

This is a third-level workshop. To get the most out of it, you would already be comfortable doing some (probably downward) two-flogger techniques. During the presentation, we will not repeat introductory flogging material. However, during the hands-on part, we'll work with each attendee at their current level. The class is aimed at advanced players, but may be suitable for some intermediates.

This is a hands-on playshop. It is best to bring two floggers of similar lengths. Falls of 16-22" are good for learning this. Flogger substitute equipment will be available if you don’t have your own.
Eye protection strongly recommended for tops.

By the end of this class, you should have more effective inverted strokes, and understand how to convert every downward stroke pattern into an upward pattern. We will teach inverted three-beat weave to all those who are ready for it.

The evening has four parts (times approximate):
7 - 7:30 Brown Bag Munch
7:30 - 8:00 Presentation and Demos
8:00 - 9:30 Guided Hands-on Double Flogging practice
9:30 - 10:30 Open practice.

Paideia (“pie DAY ah”) is a Greek word meaning “learning through play”. Paideia evenings are more than regular workshops. First we socialize. You may bring your dinner or snacks to eat during the munch period. Then we see demos. Then we do the guided hands-on workshop. You’ll mainly work in pairs learning and refining your skills. Then during the open practice period, you may integrate your new skills with other play techniques. Or you may do more practice, or watch the variety of techniques that others practice.

SF Pride Parade, June 24

This year the SF Citadel plans to have the biggest presence we have ever had in the LGBT Pride Parade. We will be marching with the LEATHER PRIDE CONTINGENT again.

We will have a truck with flogging demos, and a trailer with our wonderful house band Cuir Blue, playing live bring pulled by the truck.

We also plan on:

Pony carts being pulled by human ponies

Dancing boys and girls

Hot men and Women snapping single tails

Marchers in leather

Come and join us and march in the parade. If you have been to the Pride Parade before, you know how fun it can be. If you haven't ever walked down Market Street with hundreds of Leather Folk in the Leather Contingent, now is the time. There is nothing like it. Marchers get the very best view of the crowd and have all the fun.

We need contingent monitors and wheel monitors. The parade requires one trained person for every 25 people and we need two for each axle. Our truck has 2 axles and our trailer has 2, therefore, we need 8 people to be wheel monitors and more to be contingent monitors.

I just wanted to remind everyone of the Monitor Training coming up. Please help push people to get Monitor training, people in your clubs, organizations, relatives friends, etc. I've listed the locations, dates, and times below. Even if by some chance they find out that they can't make it parade day, it would help so much for everyone possible to take the training.

At the training, the contingent name to put on the sign-in sheet is LEATHER PRIDE CONTINGENT. This year we will have 10 vehicles, which will take 40 wheel monitors alone. Plus, 8 more for every 100 marchers, and I estimate that will be 300-400, so 32 more monitors. We can't march if we don't have enough. They keep a running count of monitors trained for the SF Leather Pride Contingent, and it is updated after each training. Last year, the Leather Community really came together and we had enough of you that got trained as monitors to cover the contingent. I am asking you to do the same this year, and I'm sure you will!

Coming over from Santa Cruz to the women's party, I would so love not to drive! The Hwy 17 bus is a breeze, but the rest of the way would take disproportionately long by public transit than by car.

Is there anyone going to the party who would be willing to pick me up at Diridon Station in San Jose at 7:30pm and then drive to Edges together? I don't need a ride after the party.

I was thrilled with the huge turnout and well...the food was ohhhh soooo yummy. The fucking machine got some use, there were screams and moans echoing throughout the entire dungeon from 8pm on through the night. Thank you all for a superb event.

The Eagle and Hole In The Wall are under attack

I got this letter in my email. I've had lots of fun times at the Eagle, with all different sorts of folks. I've never been to The Hole In The Wall, but am gonna try to check it out, in case these idiots manage to shut it down. They are also threatening to have the Eagle shut too. If you can go to the meeting or write to the representatives, that would be great. THere is also a call to boycott Stompers, since the owner of Stompers apparently is the one trying to stop the Hole IN THe Wall and going after The Eagle. It's up to you to decide if that's your thing.

Dear Friends of SOMA Gay Culture,

Hole In The Wall Saloon has become famous since it opened some
thirteen years ago. At the depth of the AIDS epidemic, when gay South
of Market seemed to be dying, "The Hole" became a joyous retreat for
our community with an accent on art, fun, and music. A thinking man's bar.

Anyway, the building where it lives now is rapidly falling apart. For
years we've been looking for a more secure location, and in October of
2006 we bought a suitable property on Folsom Street.

Shortly thereafter, a man named Jim Meko handed us a letter.
Allegedly, he had already delivered a copy to the seller's realtor
before we bought the property. We'd never seen this letter. It stated
that he and the neighborhood did not want another bar in the South of
Market area (despite the fact that we had already been here for twelve
and a half years). So we held a neighborhood meeting and presented our
plans. We assured everyone that we would address all concerns with
haste and sincerity. Still, Mr. Jim Meko countered that if he stood at
the intersection of 8th and Folsom streets, he could hear loud music
from inside Hole In The Wall on any given night. He stated that The
Eagle Tavern, our second establishment (which has been a gay bar for
more than twenty-five years now) was a terrible nuisance and that he
was constantly annoyed by the commotion from its Sunday community
benefits. He finally stood up and exclaimed the following to our new
neighbors: "Don't trust these guys! They're bad bar owners!"

This last accusation cut the deepest. We've tried hard over the years
to be a positive force in our small corner of the world. We clean and
police the streets in front of our establishments. We donate time,
money, and energy to charities and clubs that we see making a
difference. Most importantly, we respect our employees as human beings
with rights. Since the beginning, we've provided them with health
insurance, paid vacations, and a yearly retreat at The Russian River.
Despite Mr. Jim Meko's characterization of it as a nuisance, The Eagle
Tavern raises tens of thousands of dollars for charities and civic
organizations each year. Finally, we can't count how many gay men have
sworn they met their life partner at the Hole In The Wall Saloon and
consider it a sacred place. We're proud of these things and believe
ourselves to be far from "bad bar owners".

We were soon informed that a hearing was being insisted upon by a
second neighbor at the urging of Mr. Jim Meko and that others had now
been persuaded to oppose the bar's relocation project. We personally
called this second neighbor. He had never been to Hole In The Wall. He
had been to The Eagle Tavern once.

At this point, the future of the Hole In The Wall looks grim. The
floor and foundation are in bad shape. The bar's days are numbered. We
can't afford to purchase another building; and in any case something
similar to all of this would be the certain outcome. South of Market,
in the hands of the small-minded, has slowly turned petty and
intolerant. Not only is Hole In The Wall certain to close if we can't
re-locate, but the future of The Eagle is in doubt as well. Mr. Jim
Meko's main complaints were directed against it, and he sits on the
city's Entertainment Commission.

What we're asking for is your spiritual and verbal support. We need
testimony from people who know the Hole In The Wall and The Eagle
Tavern and consider them important. Please send a short letter directly to

IMsL is looking for a few good people. I am currently interviewing volunteers for positions in our Play Space Team & Security Team!

The commitment is a 4 hour shift during the weekend. The compensation is you get bragging rights to being a part of the BEST LEATHER LIFESTYLE EVENT to Hit San Francisco in years.

Play Space Team requirements:

experience in the scene
willing to be extra eyes and ears in the play space
making sure players follow the rules
ensure safety of players
(optional) set up and tear down of equipment
(optional) CPR/First Aid very helpful

Security volunteers will primarily: control access to to the event by checking for day passes, badges, etc;
respond as needed if there is a conflict between an attendee and any non-event persons; attempt to ensure

Model for me and the calendar I am working on here in foggy San Francisco.

The plan is to have an "army" of folks marching up Castro tomorrow morning at 6am (yes that is in the am but is before the marathon and before Dore Alley!). Folks would be dressed in tighy whiteys, combat boots and aviator sunglasses (we will provide if you don't have said items!). With the people assembled in military formation the Castro theatre marquee in the background will display the message "CLEAN NEEDLES SAVE LIVES". No one will be completely naked. All body shapes are welcome and DESIRED. Electrical tape will be provided to cover exposed bits etc.

I know that this is last minute. I know that this is a risque and strange request. I know it is super early. I know that I am doing this in a non-personal manner. I know all of these things and yet I am asking for your help to make this shot a really amazing message. Please email me and tell me the news - be it yes, no, maybe or you bloody insane lady go back to smoking crack. Remedial Ropes, Rt. 2: Another trip on the bondage short bus with Stef and chey

Start Time: 2:00 PM

This is the perfect class for you if your bondage skills begin and end with tying your shoes. We will briefly cover the basics of bondage safety, building a rope kit, and creating a rope bondage scene. We will then teach a 5-second cuff, the figure 8 knot, a basic body harness, arm gauntlets, and the best arm binder we?ve ever seen. This is an interactive class- everyone will get tied up and everyone will learn to do the ties. Remedial Ropes 1 not required or even necessarily recommended- this is a stand-alone remedial level class.

Doors at 1:30pm, class from 2pm-4pm
Admission is on a sliding scale from $10 to $20.

Stef and chey have been doing rope bondage for only one year; they first learned bondage at Shibaricon 2005. They went to Shibaricon with mad shoelace tying skills, and sure wish they?d known the stuff they?ll teach in this class before going to a big bondage conference! Stef has been in the BDSM scene for a decade and got a knot-tying badge in the Boyscouts; chey has been doing BDSM for 5 years and is an emergency room nurse.

The mission of the NCSF - Education Outreach Program is to provide members
of the SM-Leather-Fetish, swing and polyamory communities educational information concerning relevant legal, medical and other issues. To provide education, as appropriate, to law enforcement, care providers, and other authorities about alternative sexuality, and to assist and support the outreach and education efforts of local communities.

Bio:
Jerome AKA 'TreasureDom' Bambrick has been a part of the SM/Leather/Fetish community since 1993. In that time he has been an officer of the Society of Janus, Staff officer/instructor for the House of Difference, Founder of smOdyssey, Founder of the Dungeon Monitors Association, Founder and three years Executive Director of the FolsomFringe and is currently a presenter for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (LEOP division).

He has been nominated by the Pantheon of Leather for Northern California's Man of the year, four years running, and is a nationally sought after instructor who has taught at groups and events such as: Black Rose, Society of Janus, Society of Janus 25th Anniversary, Kinky Kollege, SINSations in Leather, Santa Clara County Leather Association, Threshold, Noble, Texas Leather Pride, The Leather Leadership Conference. And more.

Robin Spector:
Robin has been an Attorney in the state of California since 1987. Her area of expertise is primarily Criminal law, having worked as a Deputy District Attorney for seven years, then as a Criminal defense attorney. She has been active in the SM/Leather/Fetish community for several years and is a proud presenter for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.

The Alleged Domestic Violence Call

It is important for SM-Leather-Fetish practitioners to understand law enforcement and the numerous legal issues that can affect us - specifically the response to an alleged domestic violence call. Once this is accomplished, you can constructively interact with law enforcement officers if the need arises. This presentation will focus on two aspects: (1) constructively dealing with officers, and (2) avoiding legal trouble. This workshop does not deal with the "cycle of abuse" or actual domestic violence; instead it is about consensual
SM being misinterpreted as domestic violence by law enforcement.

Traveling With Toys

While there have always been security issues involved in travel, the current
political climate, as well as new legislation, has changed the procedures
used to achieve security, as well as changing the allowable items to be carried
with the traveler. Security measures have been heightened as never before - to the point of creating a legal risk to individuals who practice alternative sexual _expression for traveling with items that are commonplace for us. This presentation will address these issues and provide tips for traveling with toys.

Life & Death Issues for the Alternative Community

This presentation assists those who practice alternative sexual _expression
in understanding more about the legal issues involving their relationships.
People who are involved in dedicated relationships outside of the traditional
"Heterosexual-marriage-with-children" often acquire property and incur liabilities together. Yet many fail to realize that these relationships will eventually end; either from separation, or as a result of death or disability. This presentation addresses some of the issues and problems that might be encountered, and gives guidance on how to prepare for them.

SM Groups & Law Enforcement: Group Issues

It is important that SM-Leather-Fetish groups understand the relationship between the SM community and law enforcement authorities, as well as the numerous legalities that can affect group functions. Once this is accomplished, groups can dispel myths, educate members, and constructively interact with law enforcement as the need arises. This presentation will focus on three aspects: (1) interacting with local law enforcement, (2) avoiding legal trouble, and (3) group considerations.

Doing SM Related Legal Research

The law is interpreted - sometimes to our favor, and sometimes not. For example, while the NCSF firmly believes that consensual SM activity between adults is legal, there are those that have a differing opinion and will intentionally interpret the law in an unfavorable way. Therefore, it is extremely important for the SM-Leather-Fetish communities to have an understanding of the laws that may affect us. Knowing relevant laws will greatly assist our communities in safely organizing and maintaining SM-Leather-Fetish activities and functions. This presentation attempts to help those doing research navigate the sometimes complex waters that we find ourselves in legally.

Protecting Yourself Legally

Members of the SM/leather/fetish communities have always had some level of concern regarding the issues of privacy, discretion, and personal security. The radical right, employers, ex-partners, and others may pose threats to these concepts. Many times their motivation comes from ignorance, but new motivations like custody of children, and revenge are also becoming commonplace. This presentation provides tips for protecting yourself legally for various circumstances

Remedial Ropes: Riding the bondage short bus with Stef and chey

Start Time: 8:00 PM

This is the perfect class for you if your bondage skills begin and end with tying your shoes. We will cover the basics of bondage safety, building a rope kit, teach five basic knots and two basic ties, and discuss how to apply these to create a rope bondage scene. This is an interactive class - everyone will get tied up and everyone will learn to do the ties. Disclaimer: If you've been doing self-suspension from the age of 5 and taken every class the Knotty Boys and Midori ever taught, you will probably be bored!

Stef and chey have been doing rope bondage for all of ten months; they first learned bondage at Shibaricon last year. They went there with mad shoelace tying skills, and sure wish they'd known the stuff they'll teach in this class before going to a big bondage conference! Stef has been in the BDSM scene for a decade and got a knot-tying badge in the Boy Scouts. chey has been doing BDSM for 4 years and is an emergency room nurse.

We would like to thank Morris Taylor for showing his beautiful Art at SF Citadel. His showing concludes Feb. 14th. If you haven’t had the chance to see it please come by and have a peek. Each piece of Art that Morris has is available for purchase.

Our next Art Show should be on our gallery walls before ‘The Masters Den’ on Feb 24th. Our next featured Artist is Mike Parks, who is Sacramento based. You might have seen his showing at the last Lady Thorn’s SM Flea Market,where he had a booth. We think you’ll enjoy his work. Mike’s work will show until the April Flea Market. Each print is available for purchasing.

We are looking for Art to immediately follow Mike’s work in April.

Art shows stay on the SF Citadel gallery walls for about 45 days. We want to try to keep the gallery fresh with the talents of our BDSM community (your art does not have to be BDSM or Fetish themed. Womens Play Party Group

Hey everyone,

The Citadel is looking to make women's parties happen. Although August, one of the proprieters of the Citadel, pitched me a few dates in the past, they were incompatible schedule-wise, so I had to decline. She is currently looking for host(s) for Citadel women's parties, and is open to working with a small group. The key would be to appoint a representative from the group so that August has a consistent point of contact.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to take on new projects at this time as I am focusing on completing my master's degree over the next three months. I know that one of the major barriers to women's parties has been that no one wants to bare the burden alone, so I urge you to meet together to plan parties. If you choose to work with August, you would not be renting the space, but rather hosting parties on behalf of the Citadel. You can contact August directly via my profile (her icon is Dungeon Vixen). She really wants these parties to happen, but she needs hosts who have promotional skills and can facilitate volunteer shifts.

However, a women's group need not be for the express purpose of putting on parties at the Citadel. Such a group could promote women's events at other venues (perhaps even in the East Bay).

The panel will feature prominent members of the leather community discussing the past two decades, and examining how that evolution has shaped the current state of San Francisco's leather community. * * Lee Asplund has been involved in the leather community for
more than ten years. Since relocating to San Francisco four years ago,
she has been active in the South and East Bay leather communities and
served as a volunteer for Folsom Street Events before joining the board in 2004 as the secretary.

* * Race Bannon has been active in the scene for more than 30
years. His accomplishments include founder and Director of Kink Aware
Professionals, Project Leader for The DSM Project, author of Learning

at the NEW SF Citadel now at 1277 Mission Street (between 8th and 9th).

Start Time: 9:00 PM
9pm - 2am (note special hours)

Bang 4 the Buck returns to San Francisco! The all-women hard-core sex and play party is hosted by Midori and Kelly B, and will benefit "AIDS LifeCycle 2006."

Here's what you can look forward to:

The dungeon will be under construction for some months, and not all areas will be open to party-goers. Also note that, for those parking on Mission, ticketing and towing will commence at 2am. We suggest parking at the 5th and Mission garage and cabbing it ($5) to SF Citadel.

clarifying hours for Citadel party?

hey there! it would be great to see someone doing some advertizing for the women's party at the citadel for folsom. i've seen not much about it. in fact, many women i know don't even know there is a party.

also, there seems to be some misunderstandings about the hours of the party. some dommes i was talking to think that the party is only from 2pm to 7pm cause men will be let in to play. my understanding is that no men will be playing until 8pm. maybe an announcement sent out to the many lists would be a good idea.

i won't be able to be there cause i am helping organize the screwup party that night, which BTW, you are all invited to after the women's party.

Women of Folsom (AFTERNOON) Play Party

Start Time: 2:00 PM

We've set aside this special afternoon for women to kick off the Folsom weekend. Join us for play and community. We'll provide finger foods - you bring your energy!

Play for free if you can volunteer an hour as DM, door greeter, cashier, or setup. Contact volunteers@sfcitadel.org.

RSVPs are not required.
$20 per person includes admission to the pansexual evening play party -- let your energy continue to flow!

Special volunteer need: We'll be doing discreet between-party clean-up between 7 and 8pm. It will be during the last hour of the women's play party, so we need women only for this shift. Contact volunteers@sfcitadel.org.

NOTE: Men will be entering SF Citadel at 7:30 for set up for the night's open play party.

Email alerts would seem much better than snail-mail, especially when updates regarding a published event need to be quickly available

I'm not comfortable being a DM, since I was only active in kink community
in the 1977-1983 time period .. Sheesh, that was a long time ago.

At present for me, this tribe would be very useful in serving as a central point in announcing women's events in the greater SF-Bay region.
