AREA ONE:
ARTIFAKT(live pa and dj set)
Timecode Records - Capetown, South Africa
www.timecode.co.za/timecode.asp
A founder of Timecode Records, Matthew is without a doubt one of the most creative and dynamic contemporary psytrance producers. Although his label has been extremely influential in establishing the much-loved South African sound, his own productions are very distinct. In addition to numerous compilation tracks on many popular labels, he has released two full length albums on Timecode, both of which gleefully ignore generic structures and formulas of psytrance to deliver mental twistedness and dancefloor madness. On top of this, he has a busy mastering facility for Timecode and other labels such as Alchemy, Zenon, Yabai, Digital Psionics, and more. He has played all over the world, and we are honored to have him performing live and dj'ing here in Texas.
DJ NIKI(3 hour dj set)
Mighty Quinn Records- St. Petersburg, Russia/Tokyo, Japan
www.mightyquinnrecords.com/Arti....html
Niki is a co-founder and owner of Tokyo based psychedelic trance label Mighty Quinn Records. Together with his partner Toshi they have released two well recognized and respected compilations and now working on future releases. Dj Niki has been Djing since 2004 and had played at numerous psychedelic parties around Japan. Sharing the decks with artists such as Penta, Osom, Jahbo, Kindzadza, Parus, Polyphonia, Dejan and Jellyheadz Mussy Moody, Candy Power, Metallaxis, Savage Scream and many, many more, Dj Niki has acquired a full length and power collection of music and presents a complete psychedelic story to the dancer on the floor. His sets are described to be perfect for any time of the party and are usually smooth, rhythmic, and mysterious and create a perfect atmosphere for body and mind. Trancers and dancers are usually are put in a happy, easy going, relaxed state of mind. Feel free to come and share this experience with Niki. Boom!
DAKSINAMURTI (3 hour dj set)
Rudraksh/ Shiva Space Technologies. Germany
www.myspace.com/daksi
His taste of music is exactly fitting the Mind Funk profile, which is consisting out of knucklebusting kicks, deep throbbing bass lines, combined with powerful & intelligent synths and not just commercial crap as found on way too many releases nowadays. Perfect nighttime/twilight psychedelic powertrance is the recipe here, next to also have a real weakness for well produced and intelligent soulful morning or daytime sounds.

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Mon, July 21, 2008 - 9:14 AMI will be breaking in some new bassmaxx mid-high line array cabinets at this event. They are essentially proto cabinets, but will be very similar to what was at the Lobis Homem event in Dallas. I have some other tricks up my sleeve, but it's too early to reveal anything.

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Mon, July 21, 2008 - 11:25 AMAlready sent off an email to the appropriate location - but I am curious in general = what sort of things do vendors often bring to the parties? Do you guys (SGOA in general) wander up and get the things you really like? I'd not have even thought to bring extra money to purchase something...so this is a very interesting subject to me.
Sounds super cool, can't wait to check this land out for sure.

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Wed, July 23, 2008 - 2:01 PMWhat I've seen at the last Shiva Shakti event was a small stand with psytrance t-shirts, records, magazines, and the such. Merchandise in general really. It's pretty cool if you're looking for an old Goa Gil CD.
Btw, I'm excited!

Tue, July 22, 2008 - 9:43 PMThe links for the state parks didn't work. I know Palmetto and Buescher are pretty close to there. Buescher's not good for swimming but you can rent canoes and for the anglers, the fishing is pretty good. I haven't been to Palmetto but I've heard good things about it.

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 1:35 PMWe are extremely happy to announce that we will be providing FOUR different sustainable living information booths for the Bitter Blossom fest!
The booths will cover:
1) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:
how can i reduce my waste and where does most waste go
what are the benefits of buying reused products and where can one purchase reused items
what are the benefits of recycling
what can be recycled and what facilities accept certain materials
how can i get involved
2) Organic gardening and sustainable foods:
"Texas is #1... in food insecurity that is. This means that over 16% of households in this great state lack the means to provide consistent nourishment for maintaining health. Access to fresh, nutritious, affordable food by community members is vital in promoting community health and preventing disease. For many urban residents, growing their own food is essential for survival."
Learn how to have your own organic garden, what local foods are in season, why to shop at farmers markets, how to get your community involved with sustainable foods.
3) Disadvantages of Industrial farming and contacting government representatives:
Discover the many issues behind industrial farming. From eggs, to pork, to dairy, to the economy, and to the environment; learn how industrial farming effects you and your
local community. This booth will also cover how to write to your local representatives regarding your community concerns.
4) Sustainable energy:
Information on the TNRCC, the process of permits to companies, and how grandfather loopholes have helped companies obtain permits.
Learn about pollution and health facts, global warming and who the biggest polluters are in Texas.
Learn about solutions with renewable energy, clean transportation, and having the power to choose your own electric provider.
We are looking to work with local groups that specialize in all four areas.
More information to be posted soon.
We are also looking to work with local vegan/veggie vending for the fest.
Any volunteers interested in the help with setting up the booths should contact: bitterblossomfest@gmail.com. -

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 11:53 AMI hope we can really get some serious deco going.
The deco at Gemini (wasn't there, but I've seen the pics)gave me alot of good ideas.
One idea I had was to make huge god's eyes with really vibrant UV reactive colors. This would be easy to make a few of these.
Also if we can get some 4-way stretch lycra in white or blue we could do a little spcae-shaping with it. -

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Sat, July 26, 2008 - 11:28 AMwe are having

Same guy that did most of the work at Gemini '08.
It's gonna be kerrrazy folks.
Should have flyers this week. Hopefully presales as well.

Mon, August 11, 2008 - 9:24 AMwerd, thanks a lot jess.
we are working extra hard to include a lot of learning tools and i am really looking forward to having some hands-on help from austin's own community partners.

if anyone wants additional info or to see how they can be a part of the community partnership area, him me up on the pm or @adrienne.lusk@gmail.com.

Mon, August 11, 2008 - 6:48 PMI thought the same thing.
booths and information are very uplifting to the whole. I was glad to make this my first party because of that.
I helped throw a party where jose argueles spoke first, and that was one of my favorite partys ever.
Info on earth, and info on intelect, I think really help. besides the music and mayhem.
they can go hand in hand up the rabbit hole. so to speak.
and thats not drunk. thats me.

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 1:49 PMWould anyone mind if I led a hooping workshop at this event? I've noticed quite a lot of new hoopers in the community that would maybe enjoy a small group environment to learn new tricks...I'm not sure if I want to get into hoop making necessarily...maybe if someone else wants to help with materials I would be into doing that earlier in the day, then tricks later in the day.
Maybe if I and someone else did this we could even ask for a donation to cover materials. non-profit hoop making?

Re: Shiva Shakti and Squid Collective present: *~BITTER BLOSSOM~* September 12th through 14th, 2008
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 7:17 PMI ask because I would like to get some.
I am used to passing out lots of flyers, hundreds in fact. but I am new here in houston and I only need 5-10 flyers. I have 4 people I will hand them to. A couple extra would be nice. I am willing to put them places usually, but I do not know any spots here. If any one is willing to mail me 5-10 flyers for the price of one stamp. I have a use for them. much better sellers.
otherwise I will be printing out these j-pegs and handing these people some 8and half by eleven prints off of the printer.
I just want to look as legit as I can.
I am coming to my first texas event on this one, and want to bring some folks. I have met here.
can't wait to meet everyone. and dance!!!!!
