Re: Tribal Fest Update???
Tue, May 22, 2007 - 12:33 AMYeah, I was there-and it was great!!!! I didn't see every one of the dancers (gotta shop, ya' know), but of what I did see, my faves were (in no particular order), the Indigo-they are always fabulous, Fat Chance-I always want more of them, UNMATA-always pure funky genius (Amy, we love you!!), Urban Tribal, John Compton-truly a living legend, Vicki Virk, Vishnu Tattva Das, Collena-beautiful!, Boom Boom Bollywood-of course! Excellent workshops, great shopping (my poor credit card!!!), and, best of all, friends, friends, friends! You better be there next year, girl! -

Re: Tribal Fest Update???
Tue, May 22, 2007 - 12:46 AMAhh, dammit, I missed you Jen.
We were there too - Saturday, so we missed Rachel (I was so bummed about that) but it was a total hoot anyway and next year we are definitely going up and staying at least one night so we can do the after-parties.
Costumes - Shab, you would have loved Colleena - beautiful red embroidered costume and wonderful dancing. Of course the Tribal gals were in full color and form. Tempest wore a sort of lacy knee length skirt with stockings and heels and had a bit of the Godfather in her number. There was Subee Djinn, you would have loved it! The tortoise and hare - bunny butt with tail and white mesh stockings and high heels the tortoise had on a strap on shell camo pants and the front was cut out so you could see the stomach working - the routine was about what one would imagine and very cute. Jennifer Faust and Freyja & SoozhyQ - red and black, you will know the fabulous hair and Freyja did a drum solo to live accompanyment. Lots of melodia pants walking around, very nice stuff. Boom Boom Bollywood ROTF - they were so dead on complete with the big gals doing the coy cute lipsinking and facial stuff and the smaller women doing trying hard to be very macho while doing the male parts - hilarious and very good. Ahh, and Lee Ali - tray dance with a fusion kick, and very good beledi dancing costumes were full coverage, colorful, lovely.
That's all we saw - spent $50 on over skirts *gah* but they were really niiiiiiice, gabi -
