Technically this is only shade-adjascent, but here's a question for you smarties who bring trucks and trailers:
A friend recommends putting all the weight you can in the bed of the truck, and the rest in a trailer. I think it would be better to put as much in the trailer as possible, putting less stress on the rear axles.
What are your thoughts?

Re: OT - weight distribution (cross-posted)
Mon, August 18, 2008 - 1:21 PMPut enough weight on the truck to give it the grip to pull the trailer, about 50:50 should do. Then distribute the trailer weight as evenly as possible with just a little more going to the front of the trailer.

Re: OT - weight distribution (cross-posted)
Mon, August 18, 2008 - 1:28 PMYou need to be very careful not to overload either truck or trailer.
Assuming you are not overloading either, I would split the load.
Very important is how you spread the load either in the truck or the trailer. The items that are the densest, most weight per volume, should be on the bottom in the center between the axles, (probably way toward the front in the truck.
The idea is to keep as much of the weight low down and in the center.
