How often should one "touch-up" their tattoo? I know it varies according to whether it's got color, how detailed and large it is, and how often it sees the sun. Can anyone advise? I'm looking into my first (and likely giant) tattoo.

Re: Yet another tattoo question
Mon, February 25, 2008 - 1:09 PMnot a wonderful clear answer.... but another factor for you to think about...
it depends on if you outline it too... 'look at the the maybe 3rd or 4th pic on my profile.. the framed blue piece. that is a portion of a large piece on my lower back... the whole piece is there if you look further i am sure.
it has no out lines and is about 4 years old. my artist told me it might start to look tattered after about 10 years. - i.e. it would stay clean looking longer if i did and outline... but i opted not to .
it's all about what 'your' vision is... ... then you find a skilled artist who's style you like.... whom you trust to interpret your vision. -
