Side Stomach Tattoo's

I have a side stomach tattoo on my ride side, covering literally my whole side from top to bottom(rib cage) I am currently pregnant with my first child, I am so scared that my tattoo will never look the same as before, am only 2months you cant see any changes yet, but i been researching and am scared it might stretch out so much and distort and never go back to its original size ? what do you think?

Learn basic Pilates principles and how to apply this work in creating a strong and stable body placement for dance. Pilates is also a great rehabilitation module for dancers.
2-4: Lower Quadrant: The Root of it All (back, hips, pelvis, sacrum & legs) (Aubre) From balance to stability and freeing the body for all the wonderful isolations of bellydance, Aubre will present exercises and techniques to understanding the kinetic chain and interconnected quality of the lower half. Including special attention to sacral stability while maintaining strong hip isolations.
4-6p: The Spine: The biomechanics of spinal stabilization, articulation, and extension/backbending, from both Yogic and Pilates perspectives. (Aubre & Deb.)

12-1: Core Yoga for Dancers Warm Up (Deb)
1-3: Upper Quadrant: The neglected area of Bellydance. (Deb)
Free up the neck/head, shoulders, spine, &sidebody to create that intoxicating look and feel of ridiculously slow, slinky bellydance; allow for sharper isolations; and create more fluid, articulated movements from the head to the fingertips. Focus will be on the importance and biomechanics of the shoulder girdle, and how it relates to everything you do in bellydance. This module will include lecture, experiential anatomy, and therapeutic yoga/somatic practice, with hands-on adjustments. All material will then be applied to bellydance posture, technique, and combos, with particular focus on arms, core, and ribcage.
3-4: Bellyrolls and Abs: Understanding and isolating the deeper core muscles for the smooth, fluid moves of bellyrolls and undulations. (Aubre)

15 students, 5 days class, 24h of learning dance, 2h of personnal work, 2 performances, 1 private talk and feed-back : that the format for the Master-Class. This will really help you to grow as a professionnal dancer.
Sharon will teach 3h/day of technics, Heather will teach 3h/day of choreo. They, and other professionnals from the artistic skills (contemporary dance troup director, theater, management), will watch your 2 performances on the Thursday night student show (1 set will be the choreo taught by Heather, the 2nd will be a free variation of 3' max including technical movements taught by Sharon). Then you'll have a personnal and very supportive feed-back from them. The masters will perform on Friday night, and if you'd want to you can perform on that show too taking into consideration their advice.

You'll stay in a cheap and wonderful hostel downtown (with parc and garden) and have a very intimate time with these masters. I have been asked to be the Director of Volunteers for the LV Intensive 2009. I am looking for enthusiastic, fun loving people who want to take part in one of the biggest and best events Las Vegas has to offer. So many performers come to Las Vegas and witness first-hand the comradery and family like atmosphere at this event and a great part is owed to all the wonderful and generous volunteers we count on each year.

Additionally, volunteers get the added perks of taking some classes or attending the shows for free, and have fun. There are many opportunities to be involved in. We need people to be ushers,to help at the registration tables, and to check people into classes. We also need help running the festival stage, runners for vendors & performers, personal assistants to the teachers, etc. We'd enjoy having some "belly husbands" who want to help move, set up, and tear down equipment as well as dealing with technical aspects of the event. Sharon at Russian Tribal Fest II

Second Tribal Festival took place in Moscow on the 28-29th of March.

This time we had such great guests as Sharon Kihara and Frederique David.

I'm really happy Sharon took my words seriously in Ireland and did agree to come over to teach and dance. It was so cool to work with her translating at the workshops and chat after the party!
Our Tribal Mafia feels very lucky to keep in touch with two wonderful dancers and personalities, who now have our T-shirts, so....Hey you are part of Mafia now !

All four workshops were very interesting, fun, inspiring and refreshing. I was especially happy to see that great professional dancers also are nice, modest, smart people with respectful attitude.

I hope this is a good start and next time we see Sharon at our own Tribal Mafia Fest and show her all the art exhibitions in Moscow and I'm sure Frederique would enjoy some of the beautiful retro places here :)

XPOST: Music/Artist Request - Folies Bergere DVD

Good morning, all!

I tried looking at the credits for the Folies Bergere DVD to determine the artists/songs used in the show but was unable to find anything. I hoping someone here might be able to help...

I'd like to know either the name or artist for the song the Tribal gals use to lead into the Bollywood number. They are wearing veils hooked into their hair. It's very dramatic and (in my opinion) a bit dark.

I took a workshop with Sharon two or three years ago and we learned this choreography. Silly me, I didn't write down the music and would really like to get it now.

Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!

October 26th to November 1st, 2009

The master classes are dedicated to pro dancers who want to improve their dance and style. Only 12 students will attend the class. 6h of dance class per day during 4 days, 2 performances in front of Masters Sharon Kihara, Heather Stants (Urban Tribal Cie) and Marco Cattoï (Contemporary professional dancer, Director of the Mondapart Company and Mondapart dancing school), 1 private interview with the Masters to give you advice and thoughts.

Program :
Monday to Thursday : dancing workshops (technic, choreo, personnal work & research)
Thursday evening : studio show (public entrance)
Friday : personnal interviews
Friday night : if you wish to perform once more to integrate the Masters advice, you will be kindly welcome to do so and to share the stage with Masters.

Saturday and Sunday are intensive workshop opened to everybody.

Looking for a place to stay....

Hello dear dancers,

My dream to come to SF and learn from the best tribal teachers in the very cradle of that style is almost fulfill.
I get visa to US and I’ve just bought a ticket. I will come 19 of November and stay for 4 weeks. I’m going to get classes from Ariellah, Suhaila and Carolena.

I have only one problem, I can’t find a place to stay.
I was looking for on various “find-your-roomate” and “coachsurfers” websites, but without any result.

So maybe you have or know anybody who have a room or even couch for rent in San Francisco or Oakland. I’m able to pay about 400 – 500$ for month.

If you have any info please contact me here.

I’m quiet, non smoking person who just love to dance.

I'm so happy and proud too to welcome our beautiful Sharon in Nimes next week-end.
She'll be performing on Saturday 1st in a wonderfull antic wine storehouse transformed into a cabaret. Amy Sigil loved it last year.
Show will be at 9.00 pm.
Together with Sharon, 5 young French Tribal bellydancers who are so impressed to share the stage with her. We will support them and I know Sharon will too.
Tribal bellydance is not very famous in France, moreover in a small town like Nîmes. I'm really looking forward to hearing from the audience what they think about our Queen. I know they'll be impressed and they'll love her.
Great and talented dancers like Sharon make the success of Tribal Bellydance.

I just had an email from the Raqs Britannia team saying that dear Sharon had a bike accident yesterday and so can't obviously teach her workshops or travel. They said she is doing much better now after medical treatment - and that is all I know.

I received quite a few concerned emails in regards to Sharon's health from people who've registered for the Minneapolis Tribal Workshop Weekend with Sharon & Kami.

I just heard from Sharon and she said she has no major injuries and will be resting up for the next week and a half. She's still doing the workshop series on June 28th and 29th - so you can give her relieved hugs then! :)

tattoo advice for dancers

Hello out there...I'll be getting a new large upper back tattoo this week and would like some advice. What do you all do when you have a fresh tattoo? Avoid performing/sweating/stretching? To what degree? Any particular ointment or lotion you swear by? I understand the basics (fragrance free lotion, washing regularly, no pool, no sun, no picking!) but I wanted to know more specifics from you fellow dancers specifically regarding being physically active...

just looking foor some advice on shimmies.Do you guys do Suhaila style glute shimmies or just regular ol' shimmies with your kness and hips. It confusing because some people teach the glute variety, whereas other instructers do the other kind. Is anyone else confused by this?Is it possible to alternate between styles, or should you pick one and stick with it.? I'm confused

I know this is a looooong shot.... but I really liked the song and hoped that someone may be able to identify it!

It's a track that Sharon has used for warm-ups. It sounds like a middle eastern flute (sorry, I don't know my instruments)... and it plays a repetitive note, over and over again. The track is intoxicating and has no lyrics. I've love to find out where I can buy it!!!!!

On Sunday my car was broken into at Pride. I lost everything. My ipod, camera, new rollybag, my notebook, calendar, clothes, jewelry and...
my UNMATA necklace.
Everything else I can replace over time. But my UNMATA Necklace!!!!!!!
It was taken in San Francisco.
Here's what I'm thinking...This is a powerful piece of jewelry and it may show itself so I can find it. I figure I have a few hundred people on my side in the city that know the necklace or the symbol.
Please keep your eyes open and if you see one, it's mine. Offer to buy the necklace from whoever for whatever it costs and I will reimburse.
Please, I know she is trying to show up somewhere for me.

Hey guys...

Ok, so I´ve come to a conclusion..I will get a Sharon tattoo. Because, she was, is and will always be a huge inspiration and an idol for me....God, i sound like a stalker kinda..but i hope you guys know what I mean...Plus, it will be a small tattoo of her with the parasol on my inner arm accomplishing my koi carp sleeve, which I think is a great idea..
So what do u guys think about this?? Isnt it a bit too crazy or like too much?? What do u think Sharon will think about this?? tattoo pain

In response to -should tattooing still hurt question- I have had tattoos on my wrist- and it felt like a razor blade throughout most of it.
And that was probably my 10th tattoo- so it just depends on the area. But always question your tattoo artist if it hurts too much. I had a tattoo put on my back that hurt the whole time it was being done- and my back is usually easy to take. I did question the tattoo artist- because if a needle is out of alignment-stick out further than the others- it is going in deeper, and scarring you.
Unfortunately my tattoo artist didnr recognise this, and I have a bad tattoo. She had been tattooing for years, and had a great rep.

Yes, the rumors are true! The Afsana Sisters are bringing Sharon Kihara and Kami Liddle to MInneapolis for a 2-day workshop on June 28th and 29th. Each of them will teach a 3 hour workshop both Saturday and Sunday. Workshops will be limited to 30 people each, so don't wait, these workshops WILL fill up quickly!

Cost will be $75 for 1 workshop, or $70 each if you sign up for more than one workshop. Email afsanasisters@gmail.com to sign up. Indicate which workshops you'll be taking, and how you'll be paying. SK Workshops - How beginnersfriendly exactly?

Sooo...Sharon Kihara is coming to the Netherlands and she's giving 4 workshops of which I'm wanting to attend 3. However, there's a very big 'but' involved here. I've been taking classes for (only?) about a year and it's been in egyptian-influenced style for the most part. I've been interested in tribal style bellydance for about the same year but haven't been seriously pursuing it, if that makes any sense. My knowledge of (and skill in) tribal bellydancing is thus quite limited (but you gotta start somewhere, right?). Next to that: I have about zero experience in Yoga (asides from what I got from bellydancer's DVDs), my teacher incorporates yoga movements and postures in our classes but it's still different from, for example, the yoga warmup Sharon gives on her DVD. I already have a hard time keeping up with that!

I know it's a bit silly, but to me it can get quite frustrating if I feel like I'm so far behind on the others that I'm spending more time trying not to trip over my own feet than actually enjoy what I'm doing. I don't mind working hard(er) to keep up but I don't want to half-ass the movements and learn it the wrong way.
One of the workshops states that it's for 'all levels', the other two 'encouraged to give it a try'. So those of you that have been to her workshops: how doable and awesome are they for someone like me? I'm curious to hear your experiences. :-)

Due to circumstance BEYOND the promoters' control - this morning's scheduled workshop had to take place, er....shall we say in a combination of not one - but TWO alternate locations before it was through!
And the participants were amazingly good sports about it and understanding as well.
(Hey, could have been worse (I guess) at least we were in a park and there was electricity)

But a gigantic thanks to Sharon for "rolling with the punches" and being an incredible professional and truly top shelf Lady!

But seriously, we've attained almost full status in the first 3 workshops that Sharon & Kami are putting on, but only about half-full on the Advanced Tribal workshop Sunday afternoon.

I hope the description has not scared anyone off. No one will be humiliated or made to cry, we promise! :) Consider that even if you haven't had a lot of Tribal training, you will have had 3 classes with the ladies by the time the advanced class starts. I'M even taking the class, and I'm just an average dancer, so don't be afraid! Sign up and be challenged!! :]

That video really does not do Sharon Kihara justice. I've always enjoyed her performances on DVDs, but during the Tribal Caravan afterparty, she absolutely took my breath away. There's something there that doesn't translate out of the live setting. Thank you, Sharon, for blowing my mind!
