We have a sort of tribe I guess
We're called the Shattered Oakies
If you receive the one fingered salute
one of us it just might be...
We laugh we fight we hang around
sometimes we can be seen
to do something respectable
to honor king or queen
But mostly we're just plain old folk
We know how to have fun
though 20 years to reach this point
the best times have just begun.

Re: A poem for today... feel free to submit your own.
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 6:38 AMThe sun it doth rise
and the sky's shining blue
we are left wondering
what is to do
too early to plant
to late to go sledding
and were pretty bored
curled up in the bedding
spring fever is here
we all have our share
and it only gets worse
when the weather is fair
so start making plans
to fill the whole season
ere autumn returns
and you remember the reason

Thu, March 27, 2008 - 6:40 AMAs long as the odds
remain the same
people continue
to play the game
through winning and loss
the value is not
the collection of things
you have or not got
It's the game itself
you've come to enjoy
whether you're skilled
or it is just a toy
the important thing is to play

Thu, March 27, 2008 - 6:07 PMA pheasant crossed the road today
Not too far in front of my truck did it stray
And oddly, all I could think of to say
was GET OUTTA THE ROAD! - YOUR NOT A F#%$^&@ CHICKEN!

Re: A poem for today... feel free to submit your own.
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 6:48 AMWinter leaves on broken wing
Springtime birds now come to sing
Grass and flower soon following
Warmth is coming at last.
In feckless humour he walks away
Winter knows he cannot stay
and even though his mood is grey
He slowly fades from sight.
Dancing in, shining bright
rescuing us from our plight
springtime spreads her beauteous light
and smiles upon us all.

Re: A poem for today... feel free to submit your own.
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 8:48 AMWhether rain or shining sun
springtime has only begun
while it snizzles* outside now
winter takes yet one more bow
but beneath the clouds of gray
shades of green still grow today
herbs and flowers sprouting strong
grace our tables before long
Robins return merrily
geese fly north for all to see
ice is melting far and wide
and we're no longer stuck inside.
* Snizzles - commonly thought of as a combination of the words snow and drizzles, it actually is an onomatopoeia of the sneezing sound made when it is inhaled directly when looking up to ask the gods "What the H#%$ is falling out of the sky now?".
(subtext is a tribute to Terry Pratchet, keep writing as long as you can)

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 12:51 PMThere has to be someone else out there
or is it that no-one else out there cares
to see how this little tribe fares
or is it that nobody else dares...
I swear....
