Zareen is a Dancer and a Triber, who has created a company specifically for dancers. If you are looking for unique and affordable tribal jewelry, belts and parts for making your own costumes. Her site is the place to go.

Her products come from all over the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, India and North Africa. Her items are always changing, so it's never the same stuff over and over again. Also, you won't find these items at the nearest costume shop.

She was gracious enough to help me with a homework assignment for my Communications class and I realized I should have made this introduction awhile ago. Besides she's one cool chic and a fellow belly dancer. Please take a look at her site and tell others about it.

October 6th-December 29th
Tuesdays from 6-7:30

No Nonsense Belly Dance! Kick butt training in core foundational technique.

Each Class builds on the previous weeks lesson, providing you with the tools you need to become a quality Belly Dancer!

Performance Opportunities will be available at the end of Belly Dance Boot Camp, but never required. You will have the skills and confidence to begin performing Belly Dance if you choose.

You'll get a great workout, but these classes are about Belly Dance!

Belly Dance Boot Camp is $50.00 per month. Payment is due the first class of every month.

Yoga or athletic pants, a sports bra and tank top are recommended. Please bring a water bottle.

No dance experience required!

"BELLY” DVD release party 7-25-09

The long awaited “BELLY” DVD will be available at it’s DVD release party on July 25th, 2009 at The Visual Arts Collective at 3638 Osage Street in Garden City, Idaho. Doors open at 7:30pm, a screening of the locally made feature film will start at 8:00pm, and a show featuring local and regional talent including Samira Il Naia, Cairo Fusion, Mazana, Chandani, Perizada, Cecilia, Itheyla, and Azula of Shimmy Shakti, will begin at 10:00pm.There will be a mini bellydance lesson, and fashions available from StarBelly Creations. Cost is $10.00.

There are still some dance spots available. Contact me if you want to dance Starbelly@ftbproductions.com or have any questions.

If you haven’t had a chance to see “BELLY” yet here’s your chance. Even if you already saw it, or can only make it for the dancing, please come and support your sister in dance who’s made a film about “us” by one of “us”.

So right now I have a beginner class Thursday nights at 8pm at Habibi bellydance studio. If I get enough students then I can start an advanced class. These vintage 1970 bellydance costumes was donated by a retired bellydancer to Full Tilt Boogie to help raise fund for their feature documentary “BELLY”. There is 3 “Costless” brand belts, and one Bar made with REAL COINS, Mirrors, and Chain Tassels. They are AMAZING! I also have 2 costume sets made by a designer named Mesamera who made costumes in the 60s, and 70s. They Check them out! And Please let me know if you have any questions.

The Bellydance Superstars coming to Twin Falls

Just got this information at the newspaper. Y'all are finding out before we even publish it. ;)

The Bellydance Superstars will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the College of Southern Idaho Fine Arts Center. For out-of-towners, the CSI Fine Arts Center is located at 315 Falls Avenue in Twin Falls. Tickets go on sale August 24. No word yet on prices.

Idaho Falls Sidewalk Art Festival
July 25th and 26th
Along the Greenbelt in Idaho Falls
So on Saturday the 25th I will be bellydancing as a sort of half time performance during my friend David Devlin the magician's act this will be around 4pm on the stage and I'm pretty sure there is only one stage.
Then on Sunday the 26th from 1pm on into the afternoon the students of Habibi Belyydance studio owned by Yahaira will be doing a troupe performance and then individual solos.
Of course there will be lots of artwork, food, and other entertainment to enjoy as well so I hope to see you there!

I miss you ladies! (I accidentally sent this to the yoga one first--oops)

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you girls, you're always on my mind though. So incase you didn't know, I moved to Eugene, Oregon with Ian. We've been trying to settle in and find us some jobs and it sucks because everyone is asking for resume's and we don't yet have one, but we should by tomorrow. Eugene is lovely, I hope you girlies are able to come up sometime for a little visit. I've found a cute coffee/pastry shop, an awesome clothing store that I hope to work at in the summer, and, good for me, Eugene is very kind to vegetarians. I haven't started belly dancing yet but should start in the next couple weeks. Ian and I are also going to start taking a hip hop class at the community college so that should be fun. There is also an African dance class that I'm thinking about taking as well, both classes are in the name of tribal fusion belly dance YAY! After getting to know the community here a little better, I'm thinking of possibly starting my own troupe: any advice would be highly welcomed.

Anyways, I send my love. Once enrolled in school, I'm going to take that DVD's of my mini-documentary of Shimmy Shakti at Blood Moon down and see about getting copies made to send to you. I hope you like it, I can't wait to hear what you think! I also want to send one to Amy and Shelly, so I'm excited to hear their responses as well.

Anyways, you girls should send me your addresses if you haven't already and you can be my new pen pals!

I love what you've done with the studio! That flooring is beautiful. I had to touch it with my fingers. :)

Last night was the first night I got to come back to yoga. Wow have I missed it. Sue Lin did a great job and was so welcoming. It was the perfect remedy to finals stress, 2 back to back semesters of 15 hour days sitting in front of computers and to shift gears for the summer. My body was happy and I felt uplifted and refreshed.

Male Belly Dancers...

We saw a male dancer in Boise this weekend, who was pretty femine, and we know a male dancer in Boise(hey Jeff :)) who is not a feminine dancer. I would really like to know what everyone thinks about male belly dancers? It's a touchy subject, but lets muddle through it together eh? :)

New SS student troupe info

Okalydokaly folks!
We're starting a student troupe for all of those interested in dancing. If you haven't already talked to me about it please let me know if you're interested. We will meet Wednesday nights from 7:30-9:00 PM starting on Wed. April 2nd. We'll perform twice a year, at the Twin Falls County Fair and the Festival of Trees. Those performances won't be happening until September and December(if you're worried about when they will be). There is a monthly troupe fee and you'll be responsible for purchasing your own costumes or materials for costumes once we decide what we're going to wear. This troupe is geared toward beginning dancers, so if you would like to come shake your shakti with us, let me know :)

Jenna, LaVada, Caprice... geez, cool names... well, I just want to say Thank you so much for coming to Oct-tribal Fest 2! My only regret is that we didn't get any of your rockstar energy on stage; however, your space is reserved permanantly ;)! We had an amazing time, except for the fact that I think I am allergic to Moab, I've gotten sick both times that I have gone. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaz, right, ladies and gents. That's how far it is from little ol' Boise Ideeeho to the show-rockin' Hot Pot Studios (Sacramento, CA).

Unmata's Blood Moon, here I come.

I'm going to be driving down either the early Friday morning of the 26th of October, or the Thursday before, around 4:30pm. If anyone wants to carpool with me, that would be fantastic. I believe it's much cheaper than flying, plus road trips always rock. I will be taking my car unless someone has a van that they would want to use. My car can hold 5 people (including driver), or 4 comfortably. I also have a pretty big trunk. I can drive a little over 200 miles before filling the tank up again, so we can rotate the gas expense (we'd really only have to fill it up about 2 times each, at $40 a tank).

Let me know what everyone thinks.
