Woah!

PS: The company that sent me this inquiry was "Unrivaled Media". Their web site claims they "acquire and reinvigorate" niche web sites.

What the ...?!? This completely baffles me ...

LOL. I like how it says they are interested in, "creating," a site like yours, but then goes on to offer to buy YOUR site. And something tells me their attractive offer wouldn't even cover a minuscule fraction of the hours you put into it.

I decided to send them a response to find out just what sort of "attractive offer" they had in mind. No, I'm not interested in selling, but my curiosity was provoked.

Here's the reply I received when I asked him what kind of "attractive offer" he had in mind: Don't take a drink of anything before reading the below, because I'd hate to make you spew coffee or soda all over your computer screen:



If you could provide me some with information on the number of visitors or pageviews your site receives, I'd he able to put together a more concrete offer. Based upon the information I have, my offer would likely be a couple thousand dollars. Is there a price that would tempt you to sell it?



Here's my reply:

I hate to say it, but that's so low as to be laughable. In June 2008 my site averaged 5,000+ *sessions* per day, 175,000+ *sessions* for the month. In the same month, this came to about 18,000 *page views* per day, over 500,000 *page views* for the month. Like most web sites, my traffic is lower in the summer than in the spring and fall, so these are lowball numbers compared to peak times.

There are over 1,000 html pages on the site, and over 1,500 web sites around the world link to it.

Within the last 24 hours I've heard from two other well-known dancers that they too have been approached about selling their web sites. And they too said no.
