She was in Alaska, but not really. (Sorry Juneau-ites, Juneau is a lovely place, but rather removed from the rest of the state, aside from being the capital and having all that baggage...) That was only part one of the video, wonder where part 2 is????
Sigh... I feel soooo deprived and ignored... LOL -

(The first belly dance DVD I bought was Dolphina's boxed set because it was the only one I could find within an hour radius of where I lived.) She also seems to inspire women to become more self-confident.

way to mix the bd and burlesque in a totaly random and non-sensical way, way to be guilty of hubris, and way to try and get frostbite.
i was really hoping that was photoshoped, but no, she was really there... btw even when the air is warm the wind coming off those (amazing) things is freezing. im not sold that she's on a mission to make women feel they are worth as much as we are, it seems like she is just after shock and attention to me.
so long as she doesn't mix the BD in with anything in an untasteful way, ok. but i worry people are gonna see the panties make-over and go "oh, that's the bellydancer" not that it'd be worse than her saying bellydance turns you into a sex toy..... ::sigh::

Sun, November 8, 2009 - 12:18 AMUh, 'scuse me, but what's wrong with grannie panties? I think that's insulting all grannies everywhere. I'm no grannie and I feel insulted. 'Grannie pannies' are the ultimate comfortable panty for me. Forgive the crude language, but them grannie pannies don't get too far up my asscrack and they certainly don't get lost in it like thongs. Make the ultimate rag panty too, not to mention it's nice to have that shield between my buttcheeks and the rough denim fabric.

But then I went and checked out a few videos on YouTube... I'd have had to take that back.
I wanted to find a performance video too, but funny.. there just wasn't one. Hmmm.

Tue, November 10, 2009 - 12:57 PMHi Mahin! I think it's valid to critique a PRODUCT that someone is selling for a fee, such as a DVD. If someone is SELLING it, then it's fair game for comment.
And, I think if the person peddling this product is representing belly dance in a way that diminishes our dance form's ability to be respected by the public, it's valid to speak out against that marketing methodology.

Her underwear suggestions must be intended for "private time" situations --- obviously not for Everyday Real Life. That bow on the green pair is just plain silly. I can see it getting stuck in the zipper on jeans.
As for choosing thongs over grannies to prevent panty lines -- -grannies go high enough and low enough to disappear under anything except the tightest pants. And if she's so concerned about rear panties lines .... those silly bows and ruffles on the front are going to leave funny lumps and bulges in front, even with panty hose to squish them down!
