Re: Welcome
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 1:57 AMhi, Jamie --
I had no idea you were familiar with Shirdi Sai!
what a great idea for a tribe...! he's my sadguru, that is, the direct teacher of my guru (even though he died in 1918).
I'm really looking forward to sharing and enjoying stories here...
namaste,

Re: Welcome
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 5:26 AMyes i fell in Love with him after reading the Sai Satcharita for the first time a couple years back.. (and no, i didn't read it in a week) ;) ..
i noticed that he was your Satguru when i went to Kaleshwar's webpage a little while back.. what a great Satguru to have .. dead or alive..
like He said: "just think of Me and I am at your service"
have you been to Shirdi in your travels around India Alx?

Re: Welcome
Fri, September 23, 2005 - 3:27 PM<grinning> it's the same word, sat or sadguru doesn't matter.
I haven't been to Shirdi, although my husband has been, many times, for different spiritual process purposes.
our ashram has a living statue of Shirdi Baba on the premises, though, that is equally as powerful as his samadhi (tomb) at Shirdi. the statue itself has given atma lingams from its mouth and done many miracles.

Re: Welcome
Fri, September 23, 2005 - 4:34 PMi wouldn't doubt anything that statue has done..
i think i saw a picture of it when i found my way into your Flickr gallery and was browsing through.. 'tis a very looovelly statue ;)
now see here i was thinking that maybe Sadguru meant "Guru's Guru" but now i know i must have been thinking of something else.. what's the word for a Guru's Guru? -

Re: Welcome
Sat, September 24, 2005 - 3:40 AMParamaguru is the ultimate guru's guru....
Sadguru a guru's guru, though, so far as I know.
that statue of Shirdi Sai is phenomenal. in the beginning, when it was first carved, it didn't have any eyes (ie, irises) carved into its face.
the eyes -- which do move and express light and emotion -- formed, themselves, out of the stone of the statue, as many arathis and abisheks (baths) were done for the statue over a period of months.
the eyes just came into being -- and then they came alive.
