Please note the time change. Come pay your respects one last time to the Shiva Vista stage. It will be open for fire performers on the playa from Mon 8/31 thru Thurs 9/3 from 8pm-4am. The Flaming Towers have been moved 75' away and will sequence and poof in the background. On Fri, 9/4 we will shut it down and prep it to burn at 11pm. We invite all fire performers to take one last fiery lap around the 100' perimeter before we set it ablaze. A not-to-be-missed event on the playa this year.....

The Flow Show consists of choreographed fire performance routines created by groups and individuals. Come show us your best choreographed fire routine on Wednesday, August 27 from 9:30-10:15pm at the Shiva Vista Stage located at 7:00 & playa. Bring your music in the form of a CD or Ipod. You can also email me your MP3. Your routine and music should be between 1:30 min. and 4:00 min.

Okay, so here is the line-up as far as it exists NOW. I will update it weekly until I leave for the playa 8/22.

IMPORTANT INFO, FIRST!
- OPEN FIRE JAMS: If a DJ is listed at a time when no other performers are listed, fire performers are welcome to come and spin at the Shiva Vista Project. We request that if you plan to spin, that you bring fuel to share.
- SAFETY: If you plan to bring a large group of fire performers, please plan to bring along your own fire safeties as well. SVP will have staff available on site and onstage for general fire safety, but we can only handle a reasonable number of people at a time. IF YOU NEED extra safety/perimeter staff, YOU NEED to let me know ASAP so I can secure Rangers/security. It's close and toasty venue!!

Okay folks, back at Shiva Vista this year. And we have three events planned... dust storm or not.

1) Flame pass. We're gonna try another flame pass. The first half of this video displays the five skills that breathers should practice for flame passing: Breath, sustain without torch, hit torch (with someone else waving the source torch), two torch (carry the flame from one lit torch to another soaked one about a meter away), hit-two torch (someone waves the source and you light a soaked torch)/

2) Breather's box. The second half of that video shows the skills needed for the breather's box, a scary idea I came up with that's never been successfully done.

3) Best stunt. As determined by the fire breathers entering the contest, best breathing stunt wins the coveted Brass Balls award.

And if we get more than 100 people, we still need to Crush the dutch.

All together now! –––"Are we not men? We are Nada!"

My number one desire is to make a comfy living from the sale of my art. I made these paintings, but I don't wanna keep them. It'd be nice to make a living from doing the thing I'm best at.
I found out years ago that in order to do this, I must involve others in what I'm doing; inevitably, I concluded, they will involve me in what they're doing too. This is what happened in January of '07 as Jeff Johnson, Tova Ramos, Dianna SionCallender, Esther Triggs and Ann O'Lear invited me to join them in the Dada Motel schemes. The thing quickly took off but we've had to work at it and many more people have joined in, helping in their own ways. It's an artist thing and that means nothing in particular, so we're searching to find out what we've got here, who we've got here.
We've got 50 motel rooms filled so far, and it's in Reno; that much we know.
There's this large unique local community of creative types here and our groups compliment each other. If each group focuses its efforts to reinforcing what the other groups are doing/making, we will be able to shout with one loud voice. We're making some noise and calling some attention to our own efforts. This is done better when it's not just us saying "hey look at us", this goes for groups of artists and individual artists alike. We do our part to promote each other and everybody's happy.
I'm lookin' for unity, I'm lookin' for creativity, and mostly I just want everyone to know that this event was wholly created by artists. The artists worked together to bring you this and here we are–luvv us.
We artists types are notoriously known to be loner individuals and iconoclasts. That's o.k. It's just that all of these grunting individualists need to realize the importance of applying our own creativity to promotional efforts. Maybe this is what being an artist is– a lot of grunting and calling attention to ourselves. Whatever works. We gotta' have an audience!
Arts education/appreciation drops at alarming rates in public institutions and the funding dwindles that supports these efforts. You and I both know that art is more than drawing, drumming or crying on cue. Art is in the lives that we lead everyday but not everyone has been so fortunate, they don't understand the benefits. The creative life–itself–is an art compared to the life that most live. We must share our talents/fears/observations/obsessions and bring these 'others' in to our world.
Too many people are waiting for something to happen and are meanwhile making nothing happen. I like to do things the hard way myself, and it's always given me good practice for the easy stuff.
Nada Motel asks a lot from participants as did Dada Motel and that's how it works so well and efficiently.
A fact of life is that 'nothing succeeds without personal sacrifice' and isn't that how it SHOULD be? We do more than is asked of us, and it doesn't go unnoticed–but results are not instant. GIVING is what art does; eventually it has to given back to.
A question to ask our selves is "Why include anyone else in my plans to achieve artistic fame?" And a second question would be "As an artist, do I need fame?"
As we all know, art is not made in a vacuum, successful art involves many people; many people to promote and many people to appreciate. The beautiful thing is that the promoters and the appreciators are the same people, and so it grows.
Finally, as artists, all that we need to know is that people need to see what we make/do.... and there's no better time to show them than NOW!
Hit the press, tell them what's brewin'–make noise, period. Reno is loud, Reno is proud and you don't wanna be left behind!

Wow.. Great party the other night. Thank you to all the people who made it to Bliss and partyed like demons!!
I'M still waiting to here from steveho what the door was, but think we did pretty well.. Bt ibe the house was paked and everyone was dancing. Super fun!
Special thanks to Champagne in Bacon, Surley camp, and all the kids from Tahoe who came out en Mass.
It was really great to meet some new people and see some new faces.

Perform Nada..

If you don't know, Nada Motel is this year's incarnation of Dada Motel. http://tribes.tribe.net/nadamotel. Last year we had 17 motel rooms filled with art exhibitions and off-shoot events all around downtown such as the tower of TV's, the Neon Trainyard and Shiva Vista-ites spinning; these were all down on 4th Street.
This year we're staying more confined to the intersection of 2nd & Arlington where our two motel locations are: Hotel El Cortez and the Town House Motorlodge. The TH has a very big parking lot where I'm hoping HOOPERS, SPINNERS, BURLESQUERS, and AERIALISTS would like to participate. Actually some of that would happen inside the Trocadero Lounge, which, for our event will be called the Cock Fight Lounge; music, dancing and entertainment happens all 4 days. Tova is heading up the Cock Fight Lounge; so go to our tribe and hit her up if you wanna know more about the Lounge events or to BE a lounge event.
Events are free to the public. This is a DIY, crowd-participation event and we've got DJs coming from LA, artists coming from LV and Sacramento, so I'm telling you it's BIG.
Last year we had 1000 people come through the Cortez. This year.......?
If your group is interested in performing in the Cock Fight Lounge, talk to Tova, if you're more of a parking lot fanatic, talk to me. I can set it up with the owner.

Just sending a friendly reminder to let everyone know that our Dada Motel doc will be playing at the Reno Film Festival on Sunday May 4th at 11:30 AM. Prior to the screening there will be a live, Dada performance by Brad Bynum and some other awesome musicians from around town. Basically, a noise improv of sorts...similar to their performance at the Trocadero Room last summer. So they'll play and do their thing...and then our film will screen.

Yuri's Night Admission

Greetings earthlings! Yuri's Night is GO... IN SPACE!

Recently one of our friends inquired if they could get free admission if they were performing outside at Yuri's Night. Because this is a fund raiser for art installations Zsu Zsu and Jackbot, we do ask that you contribute to our cause IF you choose to come indoors. Since the event producers have shelled out cash for both the open flame and special use permits and there is no charge for enjoying the outdoor events, we hope that you feel welcome to perform and dazzle the crowd that we provide. We've made every effort to keep the ticket prices at a low $10 in advance and $12 the day of the event.

There is a way to get in free:

1. Attend the final Mission Critical Planning Mixer tonight (Friday) at Bliss at 535 E. 4th Street
AND
2. Show up at 1:00 PM on Saturday, the day of the event, and volunteer to help us set up, decorate, bring stuff, massage and feed the worker bees, you know... stuff.

If you can do #1 but not #2, feel free to bring a little cash to the mixer for the last of the discount tickets.

Advance tickets are available at the Melting Pot- 888 S. Virginia St. in Reno, and at Prism Magic- 2161 Pyramid Hwy. in Sparks. Tickets are $15 at the door (to include food), available at the Zephyr Lounge beginning 4:00 p.m. April 19.

Playa Fashion attire and costumes are highly encouraged. The theme for Triple Trouble Spring Madness is tribal and earthy. This event will include live music from local bands Nick Ramirez and Astronot, Sleepy Sunshine, Buster Blue, and Session. There will also be BBQing, included with admission, and poi spinning workshops (available at $10 extra per session). As the sun sets, Controlled Burn has donated their time to light up the evening with some tribal fire spinning and live drums with our local drummer community. Once you're revved up and ready to dance the night away, DJ Rhino is hosting the official after party, The GREEN Party to be held at the 1099 Club located at 1099 S. Virginia Street in Reno. Admission for this party is free to all that have attended the Triple Trouble Spring Madness party at the Zephyr Lounge.
“I am so greatful to the community for all of the support it has shown thus far,” states Ryan Ostler, the creative force behind the project. “It is nice to include a few other groups and a more tribal feel to this fundraiser. We already had our party of Twos [the tutu party back in February] and now we get to have our fun with Threes!”

I just got word from DaveKing about 10 minuets ago that Lady Bee called him this evening to inform him that the Shiva Vista Project WILL be funded this year!!! It's an honor and a privilege to host this year's "Anti-Slacker Society"
awards. Hello, I'm Mister Jellyfish. Every year we come together as a Burning Man community to make annual events the most sensational experiences for everybody this side of the playa. We of the A.S.S. wish to recognize those in our community who possess such amazing follow-through, tenacity, and just plain do-what-they-say-they're-gonna-do, that we need to applaud them and their efforts as they have helped us turn the corner into what we have become-the Biggest Little Burners in the World!

These are people that actually show up. Giving of their time and energy until it hurts sometimes, quietly weeping in our arms when they must, then hitting the bricks yet again with vision and purpose.

The envelope, please.

NEW TUTU VENUE!

Greetings Shiva Vista project Friends and Family!
We have been in a holding pattern that last week or so as the rumors are true! The Green Room has been shut down a month early by the city of Reno so we needed to find a new venue. All planes have been in holding pattern as a bit of uncertainly has surrounded the event. In the last few hours the final details are in place and everything has been worked out, just in time! Good thing this didn’t happen right before 2/2 or we may not have been able to pull it off. As it stands we still have two weeks to get the word out and get this place packed! We are asking for HELP. Please please please repost the new flyer and update press release when I get them out ether tonight or tomorrow morning. We have time, but its cutting pretty close…
AS of now, the new venue for the event is going to be at The Underground.
Remi and Slone have graciously booted the other event that was going to be in the space that night in favor of us! Thank you Remi and Slone. Much appreciated!!!
Please everyone get flyers at the melting pot as well as print then off your computer, new tickets will be printed and distributed. Gorilla marketing tactics will be needed at this stage. All help is tremendously appreciated!

Looking for Burners to rent to -

I have two apartment buildings I am cleaning up in the middle of downtown Reno (across the street from the Siena parking lot). Eventually I want to get solar energy, a green roof, murals painted, a coffee shop started, and a community garden in the courtyard, but the first step was to kick out all the meth heads which, after much effort, I did and now it's on to getting good (i.e. interesting/cool, etc, can pay rent, won't burn down my place making a meth lab, eclectic,etc) renters in there.

There are two buildings on the property (one from 1902 and the other from 1925) and have a lot of potential and I would love this to be a cornerstone on cleaning up this part of downtown and getting a scene started there. The rent is: studio $650 (utilities included) and one bedroom $750 so if you know of anyone who may be interested please pass this along.

On another note, I'm really looking forward to seeing many of you at the club for the Shiva Vista Project!

Controlled Burn to Offer 6 Week Skillz Training Class

We are now offering more structured curriculum that will allow you to become a great spinner! Our first session begins Wednesday, January 9th at 6pm to 7pm. We will be instructing you on poi, staff and devil stix. The class goes from Wednesday, January 9th and repeats itself every Wednesday from 6-7pm until February 13th. The 6 week training course is $50. If you drop in during our classes, the charge is $10 per session. We will be holding these classes at North Valleys High School. If interested, we strongly encourage you to pre-register on our website at www.controlledburnreno.com. Registration for Devil Stix is required. You must be 18 or over, or have your parent or guardian attend the first class to sign a waiver and the safety class to learn to be your personal safety.

Tutu Party Update!

Hello Shiva Vista Friends and family!
And here we are. It’s already 2008!
I should have written this two almost two weeks ago now but between the hollidaze and being sick It just didn’t get done. I do now however have most everything finalized for the SVP fundraiser on the 2nd of February 2008. The flyers will be finalized and printed this week. Jess has the press release almost finished awaiting some small finalizations. And things are generally moving along really nicely toward what I’m hoping is a very successful night for the Shiva Vista Project and the entire Reno/Tahoe Burning Man community.
I would like to start out by thanking the people who came out to look at the space it the Green Room and helped start to visualize how we can use the space to its fullest advantage. The space is nice because there are three or four zones that we can utilize. There is a bar area, a middle large room with a large stage, as well as another large room with a smaller stage great for Djs.
We are going to turn the middle room in a low tempo chill room with couches and a hookah lounge, as well as use the larger stage for acts like Boho Burlesque and Dragonfly Aerialists. This middle room on the far wall is also going to have a silent auction where people are going to able to bid on things like being able to control the buttons on the Shiva Vista Project for 5 minutes to be redeemed on the playa. Ill list the items we have been donated so far at the end. The middle room is also going to have lights lighting patterns and one of the crazy screens that D6 is setting up. I’m also thinking it would be a great place for people to spin glowies.
The back room they used to be the liquid lounge is going to be a little more bumping. Less loungy and more dancy. There will be lots of crazy lights and possibly be another of the crazy screen (what is the name of that, hehe. ) That back room also has an old bar that the crush gals can use as a run way to dance and strut around on. I was thinking it would be fun to have a an informal fashion show on it. Any chance Boho Crush wants to do something like this?
We are still deciding where we might be letting people in. There is a really great door in front that would lead into the dance area. It is really nice because it would be easy to control people on the way in and as well as provide a space for coat check. We can also put some lighting in that big front window so people know where to come in as well as attract the fire flys walking by.
We have a great line up Djs to keep everyone dancing all night long.

Ten, 5 minuet spots playing with the buttons to the Shiva Vista Project. Ill be designing some fancy tickets to be redeemed during open burns on the Playa.
Four tickets to shoot 5 gallons of diesel 100 feet in the air with Dave Kings liquid shooter.
Eight large framed pictures of the Shiva Vista Project and other really nice fire show
One, 20 minute show by 2 or 3 Controlled Burn members that can be used for a party or special event. I will be one the performers.
One fire staff made by Dave king
One or two paintings by me
Two Burning Man tickets
And anything else fun that people wanna donate.

Goddess Donna has volunteered to run this part of the fundraising so please contact her at donna@goddessdonna.com if any one would like to donate..

Ill have a list together in a day or two as to what kinds of details that need to be done to hopefully find some people that would like to help out ether before during and after the party.

Ohh. One last thing. I’m having one more meeting at the green room coming up on Thursday the 10th of January at the Green Room. I’ll put out reminders before hand and I’ll get the word out when the flyers are done and where people can get them.

Shiva Vista gets even BIGGER!!!!

Today Dave King plunked down the cash for a 10 million BTU vaporizer..
Bigger than last years by a bunch!!!
This means we got two of em producing about 16 million BTUs and hour..
That's a lot of freaking propane!
Good thing we have the fundraiser together to get this done!
Hopefully pray that BMORG kicks us down some pro pain this year..

Does anyone have a bit of time on Saturday to help DaveKing clean up a couple of things from BruningMan. I was going to be there but it turns out I have to be at work bu 7am and will be there at least 10 hours so I'm not going to be any help at al!

Shiva Vista Meeting

Hello SVP Friends and family.
Tonight was our first real meeting to talk about what kinds of things we would like to happen this next year. Already we are light years ahead of where we were last year and now we have a years worth of experience and mistakes under our belts. We have picked people up along the way and that is a very good thing. Because this years project will not be cheep and it is going to require much more man power to construct and tear down on the Playa.
We are up for the task and the dream will continue.
Bigger and better than before....
It official.
Our first fundraiser is going to be held on February 2nd. The same weekend as out first fundraiser last year. Its the second annual, second month on the second day fund raiser.
The Tu Tu party. I guess I'm going to have to dust mine off...
Hehe.
Anywho we are still running the numbers on what is going to take dollar wise to get this thing off the ground and should have a pretty clear idea by the end of the week...
We also addressed the question of a Paypall account. the idea went over well but there were a couple of questions raised that are going to be looked into..
All aspects of the project are being examined beefed up or improved..
It going to be a GREAT year!

Feel free to delete this post if it's annoying, but I'm looking for any pictures of myself on the SVP stage. I realized recently that I have no pictures of myself with my fans, my favorite toy. I was spinning them on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights at SVP and the Philadelphia Experiment... I had dreadlocks (although tied up with a skull-printed bandana) and was wearing, most of the time, some variation on black bra, undies, and tights/thigh-highs. I had cameras when I got to BM, and lost them in the shuffle... Any pictures would be much appreciated!

An after Fire Idol idea.

Hey everybody, I'm Rif. long time spinner, first time visitor.

And I have a proposal.

A few years ago at the burn, my very tolerant fire troupe allowed me to try out something called Rifaroke. Basically it's firespinning to really different music. Billy ray cyrus different. Alvin and the Chipmunks different. Macarena, Well that's not different, that's just wrong. Which makes it so good. Watching a bunch of leather clad fireslingers trying to figure out how to spin to cartman singing air supply is a hoot.

And then i also throw in the songs you secretly have always wanted to spin to in public, but didn't have the satchel to do so. Like Bon Jovi, or christina aguliera, or footloose.

unless my friends are even better actors than spinners, we had a blast. We did it at a coporate event in La, and the civilians loved it. I think since we'll already have some fire peeps there and warmed up, let's keep it going, yeah? It's a light hearted night with a lot of laughs. Something our little tribe could alwayse use more of.

It's also super fun for the crowd, especially those who watched the Facts of Life when it was on air. They secretly want to dance to Wham again as well. It will draw. No one can resist the pull of Night Ranger.

It's pretty effortless, just an injack for an Ipod of dubious distinction.

I do take requests, and messing with your friends is really fun.

Hehe..
OK.
SO... Dave King took Carlyn and I to an went over to an unnamed(in not sure if I can say or not .. so Id better not) place today and looked at the brand spanking new 1946 and 1948 model propane tanks for the SVP. Both, are newly fitted with shiny new fittings and are preasure tested to hold propane! These are some big Mother F***ers. Fat boys, perfectly round, designed to roll if something hits them. Really neet.
The small one is 150gl. the big one is 250. That gives us really really lots of propane to play with every night....
It's ON folks.
We are right on schedule running down the pipe with two weeks left till we hit the Playa running hard!
Ill be shouting out for help befor load up day before the truck leaves to see if a can muster some muscle... Its a lot of stuff.. But totally manageable with a medium sized team..
This is going to be great!

The Stage is Built!!!!

All I can say is DONE!
I cant thank enough the overwhelming response to our call for help.
Because of amazing planing and a killer motivated workforce of over 15 people, we no longer need to think about the stage until we are about to hit the playa!
It was built and painted in a day and a half....
Amazing....
Much love and Gratitude to all who have been helping keep this dream moving vigorously forward...
I would also like to thank Bill Pennington for his generous contribution to this part of the project... Really folks.. He funded the stage portion entirely. We could not have done is with out his help...

Controlled Burn Pre Playa Kick Off Event

Come join us this Sunday, August 5th from 8pm to 10pm on the Mapes City Plaza. This is our FINAL performance in Reno this summer with our FINAL installation of our 4 part post card series! From 8pm to 9pm we will be having a Playa Wear Fashion Show hosted by Bohemian Crush with the Reno Roller Girls and Burning Bikes! Hello friends and Family!
This weekend we are (finally)building the final stage of the project. This aspect might be more mundane after building all of the fire effects we have Been putting together, but don't be fooled, this is the heart and soul of this project. The performance stage.
Dancing with Fire.....
We were delayed a week as we were still hammering out some logistic pablums.. They have now been solved and we are pushing forward!
We will be working at Dave Kings house starting at about 9am Saturday morning. Please come if only for a little bit to see if we need help and if not just bring some beer and hang...
please bring a drill and maybe some booze...
Fun is the name of the game...
Lets have some together and work on this project as a community of friends and family.
We have come sooo far this year I can hardly believe it.
We leave for the Playa in four weeks and we will be ready..

Call for Local Theme Camps, Art Cars, and Art Installations

Tell us what you are doing in Black Rock City this year! We are trying to coordinate a list of Reno/Tahoe Burners and their theme camps, art cars, and art installations for your playa pleasure this year. Lastly, let us know where you are being placed, once you know, so we can visit!

Also, we are in the process of planning Reno's "Decomposition" Party after the burn this year. It is going to be one of the largest decomp parties Reno has ever seen. We will be decomposing at the Club Underground the evening of October 20th and into the wee hours of October 21st. I am in need of theme camps and art cars who want to participate in this event. We are going to be BBQing, dancing, hookahing, fashion showing, etc. with live bands and DJs throughout the evening.

On to the final stage...

Hello friends and family....
We have come such a long way. As of last night, two of the three stages of this project are completed with AMAZING results. It has been a wild ride this far and the end is soo near we can all taste and feel it with in our beings...

We are almost Home.

The propane effects are completed. Yes, we still have some wrenching to do on the vaporizer and the surge tank manifold, but thats no big deal...
It is time to build the very heart and soul of this project...
The stage.
Materials are being ordered tomorrow.
I will be prepping next week.
Then on the weekend of the 14th and 15.. We build it.
This is a modular project so we are only building the pieces, then getting them painted. Throwing them in storage for a couple of weeks. Then assembling them on the playa.....
We are on the home stretch and we could not have gotten this far with out the help and devotion of sooo many people who hold this common vision.
This is an epic installation that will only grow in the next couple of years. We will not burn that stage until next year. But.. it will burn as it has been designed to.....
Please everyone put the weekend of the 14th on your calendar.
I would like to have the people and tools in place to get this stage of the project COMPLETED on this weekend. WE CAN DO IT with the amazing people that we have helping. If you have not helped so far.. I hope you can make it to this. If you cant.. please help in spirit by holding the vision near.
This is an amazing dream that cant happen with out the community of burners in Reno and beyond...

Test fireing is OFF for today as i have just been informed that there is a Red Flag Burn Warning for Washoe county today and maybe tomarrow....
We can run the test next saturday if need be.. Of course were are useing the 12 for our art town show next saturday.. sooo.. its getting down to the wire and we are cutting it close.

Ready for test fire!

Hello and greetings fellow earthlings.
This weekend we moved the SVP ball forward a few more notches as we got all of the parts painted up and ready to assemble as well as much of the wrenchiong done on the cannons! We have a very small punch list left small stuff that needs to be done this week in order to keep on schedual and fire this thing next wekend!!
Sound like the initial fireings will be with water to make sure that all the valves are functioning properly. Then its a test with fire!!
After that im hoping its early enough to skip out of town and up to the hot springs where the is going to be a big Solstice party and where i plan on spinning fire and drumming all ngiht and them probubly solking most of the next day!
Anyone interested in joining me is more that welcome...
Its going to be another exciting weekend.
Finnishing satge two of SVP is a huge acomplishment...

SVP ball keeps rolling....

Hello Shiva Vista Family and Friends...
The ball is rolling quickly right now on the flame effects portion of SVP. Dave King has ordered all of the parts hoses and solenoid valves as of yesterday. This morning we found most of the steel we need for the Stands. And Stu has been working furiously on a sequencing program as well as electrical engineering.(we need a crew for this as well by the way, any one like to play with wires out there)
Its looking like the tops of Ring of 12 will be about 16 feet of the ground configured in a circle 100 feet in diameter. Add 25 or 30 feet of blast sequenced propane blasts and this should be pretty cool..
The goal is to get the majority of the work on this DONE by Sunday early evening. And get this thing fired up and tested by the weekend of June 16th...
Don't worry we will be letting people know when and where before it goes off...
Bring your cameras.
Also. Don't forget about Sierraville this weekend on Sunday night for Rachel going away party. Sound like there will be a great turn out to send her off...

Hello Shiva Vista friends and family!
The trusses for the ramps arrived today! This week and next PropaineDaveK and I will be doing the prep work to get the building rolling.
Are are assembling a team of workers for the weekend of the 26th and 27th to get all the pieces prefabbed and ready for assembliy... Then Sunday night is off to the hot springs for Rachel going away party! Its sounding like it might be a pretty good turn out for that...Should be a "shit ton" of fun.
Hehe...
Ill be sending out event notices this week as a reminder for the 26th..

Alrighty darlings, so here's the schedule of events I've come up with for the fundraiser:
5 or 6?-8pm: Setup. Need to set up: Fuel dump, talons, propane FX, some prep for jello, "Green Room" space, aerials, decorations/lighting, band.
8pm - doors open.
8-9ish The Shindiggers on the main stage
9ish-9:30: Shindiggers teardown
8pm-whenever: open drum circle out back.
9pm-whenever: open firespinning out back, propane FX, talons.
9ish -all night: DJs in both rooms.
9:30-10:30: open bellydancing/gogo dancing on the main stage.
10pm and 10:30pm: aerialists performance
10:30-11:30 burlesque/hot mamas on the back stage.
11:30pm-midnight jello prep.
Midnight - 0030am: Jello Wrestling.
0030-0100 am: jello cleanup.
0030am-whenever: Stupid Human Tricks on the back stage
...and dance and burn the night away!

I am hoping for the flow of traffic to go somewhat like this: start in the main room with the Shindiggers, then at 9 start up with the DJ's in the main room, with people then going back and forth to check out the fire out back, and at 10:30 shift the attention to the back stage with the naughty stuff and let everyone's attention go at 0030 to dancing and checking out the fire.

People needs:
*We need a barker, someone to attract attention and give a play-by-play for the jello match.
*Security and personal assistants to the wrestlers (I say we grease up shirtless husbands Howwoward and Trace!)
*Fuel boy/girl for the Hot Mamas. Indoor fire pending...
*Security for the aerialists (I'd like to prevent people from walking under/into us)
*Lotsa Fire Safeties.
*?Door people? If they don't provide a door person, can people volunteer to take an hour or two at the door?

Stuff needs:
Partition walls for the green room area
Tables, chairs, and full-length mirrors for the green room area.
Potluck food for green area.
Burn barrels
Decorations (I assume Donna has this under control!)

Um, and I'm sure there's more, please comment!

Homemade Fliers

Printing additional fliers at home is working great, but I wanted to make sure I'm allowed to do that. Is it okay? I figure I need at least 50 more by Saturday.

If it's okay, what worked best (for others to try) was to go to "my friends' photos" on my tribe homepage, drag the shiva vista photo to my desktop, then open it, size it and print. It's not as richly colorful as RyanO and Donna's were, but it gets the message out.

Im happy to anounce the next fundraiser for the Shiva Vista Project!
The PARTY will be March 31, 2007 at the Underground. The evening will start out featuring two or three bands providing live music. Outside will be at least two of the 13 foot fire tallons on display shooting massive fire! Under the flames Controlled burn and the Reno Fire Conclave will be spinning fire.. Next comes a naughty little fire eatting and contact fire show from Controlled Burns own "Hot Mammas!" Then we get to dance all night to the sounds of DJ OSH and the Rhino....

So, I thought we should start a thread in which we may take "submissions" for general _times_ that artists/groups will want for the eventual presentation of their art, as well as to post availabilites and general questions about the project for those coordinating projects.

In NO WAY is this meant to suggest that people will have to do any application process or anything. i.e., If it's empty at any given time, it was meant for you to use. If you WANT, WANT, WANT it at a certain time so you can show off to your friends, then you BEST make sure it's secured with "SOMEONE IN CHARGE" (I am in NO WAY volunteering to keep track of this, though. just so no one asks me!) ;-)

So, whatever. let's see what happens here.
