The SHREDD! Theatre Troupe's "The Extraordinary Fila" was described in the Orlando Sentinel's rave review as: "a happy, energy-exuding cultural collision." The troupe, consisting of the SHREDD! Percussion Ensemble and the GypsiKelts Dance Clan, fuses countless strands of World Dance and Percussion into an explosive stage presentation. "The Extraordinary Fila," based on a traditional African teaching story, was selected as 2005 Patron's Pick in the Brown Venue and also won the Newbie award and made the Orlando Sentinel's Top 10 "Best Bets" of the Fringe. In 2006 the group is back, bigger and badder, with "The Extraordinary Fila Goes To Hell!"
The Extraordinary Fila Goes to Hell (2006)
Quotes from Diane Hubbard-Burns, Orlando Sentinel:
"The fabulous Fila folks -– the Orlando-based Shredd Ensemble -- are back"
"costumes that artfully use more sequins, shells, bells, feathers, fringes and fabulous masks than anything this side of a Monte Carlo masquerade. Extraordinary indeed!"
"a cross-cultural block party-cum-performance art."
