Sun, June 15, 2008 - 2:54 PMYour skirt was awesome. I've already have something,, otherwise I would take you up on your offer. I just have to start decorating the skirt. I worked on fixing up the belt this weekend - it was more work than i bargained for. -

Thu, June 19, 2008 - 5:52 PMcool, what have you done to your belt? i painted the metal on my with copperleaf paint... i might do one more layer... since it doesn't have the bling or glitter of the others.. I was debating over adding some... but almost like it's plainness...
the vest is a pickle..lol... thinking I should have started with something less complicated... than my dual colors of leathers... oh well, will be interesting
started the bra too... i think i am going to edge with a row of cowrie shells... this is very exciting! i also have a new head band... it was a belt, that i am cutting up light color with shells... i will take a photo this weekend if I think of it :)
makes me wonder what we will be doing for our waddy waddy costumes.... -

Re: leather skirts/belts and vests..
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 7:36 AMSAGA OF THE BELT:
First I tried to spray it with "glitter" paint. It didn't cover very well.
Next step, I tried silver metallic paint. It had good coverage.
Theresa said to sprinkle glitter over the belt immediately after you sprayed it and then give it a coat of polyurethane. I tried this with the silver metallic paint. But the glitter didn't stick very well. I think because I was doing it outdoors, the paint would dry too quickly. The glitter is falling off. So I found some glitter glue, and I touched up the spots on the belt where the glitter is falling off. I ended up spending more money on the stuff to fix the belt than the cost of the belt!!! I have made tassels to hang from the belt. I am in the process of attaching them.
I made my vest from ultrasuede, like Jeanine did. Since I have a serger, I just used a simple rolled hem on the edges, so it didn't take much time. I have started decorating it - I just don't know how far I will go with it.
Since I knew I would be busy with the skirt and vest - I was lazy about the bra. I ordered one from Tribal Rootz. Hopefully I'll get it next week.
