Word Hoop Day Aug 8, 2008

WORLD HOOP DAY at Treasure Island's Great Lawn.

The event's activities include music, games, contests, lessons, fire performances, with a Peter Pan/Treasure Island costume theme. We're also donating hoops, lessons, games and prizes to underprivileged children with hopes of getting them fit, not fat, from 1—9pm. It's happening rain or shine.

The International Holiday called World Hoop Day is a Free Public event that just happens to take place on the same day as Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony, and like the Olympics, happens in 1,000s of cities around the world, where rings, or hoops are in the spotlight.

Joining us at Treasure Island are the HoopGirl Allstars, Miss Rosie of HoolieHoop, HooppaiN, and our newly SF relocated hooper - Hoopin' Annie, founder of World Hoop Day. Yes, SF is now World Hoop Day headquarters so let's do it up proud! Donating hoops to the hundreds of former homeless youths who now reside on the previous Navy Base with amazing views of San Francisco and the Bay, we're also taking WHD up a notch from hooping for peace last year at 7am to 7pm, to truly giving and sharing the love. At 8pm there will be a moment of silence to connect with all the hoopers around the world celebrating this enormous event in Australia, Europe, Asia, South America and the other cities of the USA.

Bring hoops and potluck to share and take part in a global celebration. To contribute your time and/or financial support contact Annie at hoopinannie@ gmail.com
SAGRADA

Please join us at SAGRADA, a beautiful event supporting the vision of the 2008 Burning Man Temple!

Thursday, June 12
DNA LOUNGE, San Francisco
7pm-4am

We invite you to eat, drink, dance and make merry while offering up some abundance to this year's community temple space, BASURA SAGRADA. For years, people have relied on the temple as a physical space of transcendence, a place to connect to their own sense of the metaphysical and provide meaningful offerings and prayers to the beyond. Now, we come to you in great need of your financial support so that we may continue to make the temple a reality!

The Sagrada Soiree offers many ways to tithe along with fellow burners, patrons, and temple supporters. With sumptuous dishes creatively served by temple avatars, tasty libations, performances by mind-blowing troupes, live painting with Shrine and others, it's a unique event not to be missed! In addition, we will be hosting an incredible art auction featuring one-of-a-kind works by artists and friends of the temple, some special presentations by the Basura Sagrada creators, and other delights to complete this lavish evening gala. Plus, it's all set to a beautiful soundtrack by some of the best downtempo talent in the city!

Later, we will throw open the doors to the entire community, and turn up the heat (and the volume) for some splendid late-night celebration. With more performance, more music, and more art than you can believe, SAGRADA will provide an exciting peek at what this year's temple has to offer!

Get your tickets now and support this sacred undertaking!

SAGRADA SOIREE — 7pm-4am
$150 ($250 for two!)
Hosted reception between 7-10 pm, with VIP access to special performances, presentations, and pre-event admission to the silent auction. Includes ample hors d'oeuvres and drink specials, conversations with the artists, and much more!

SAGRADA SHAKEDOWN — 10pm-4am

The Mission truly represents the Bay Area's artistic soul, and it's our intention to reflect and celebrate this richness. We'll solicit participation from artisans in the Mission District and beyond to engage the public in this community celebration of the artistic and cultural life of the Bay Area. With this event, the San Francisco's historic Mission District will come alive as the Bay Area's preeminent melting pot of - and destination for - multicultural arts and artists.

I was just listening to a little Fatboy Slim - and thought I'd throw this out there.

Coachella is 17 days away (as of right now). We have a big group going- we rented a big house with a hot tub/pool about 10 miles from the venue. If anyone is going to the festival- stop by our place during the day before or at night after the festival.

If you are considering going...or looking for a place to stay- contact me. We still have room in the house.

---------------------------------------------
9th annual: How Weird Street Faire!
Sunday May 4, 2008 — 11:11 am to 5:55 pm — San Francisco, Earth
EXODUS! WE’RE BACK AND MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION!
The How Weird Street Faire is moving 10 blocks down Howard Street, but continues to bring together a diverse assortment of electronic music styles by collaborations of collectives and artists working together for a celebration of peace. You are invited to join us in starting a new era!

There will be nine stages of music during the day, seven city blocks filled with art and celebration, food and vendors from around the world selling unique and creative wares, non-profit organizations to educate and inspire you, performance artists and thousands of people in colorful costumes dancing in the streets, and the opportunity to meet members of your extended family and forge lasting connections.

The day is open to all ages, with requested donation of $10 (or $5 in costume).

And there will be a special educational component during the day at Temple, located on Howard Street. Technology that fosters peace and sustainability will be exhibited, and there will be talks and interactive workshops. So come inside from Noon to 4:30pm to be inspired.

Introducing... How Weird @ Night, from 6 pm - 2 am!
For the first time this year, the How Weird Street Faire will incorporate a full evening program into the festivities with "How Weird At Night". At 6pm, the faire moves indoors to several prime locations located immediately within the faire site footprint, and one only two blocks away. Stages from the faire will be hosting music and other performances at venues include Club NV, Temple, Supperclub, 111 Minna Gallery, and more. The evening venues are 21 and over only. Full details will be posted on the website, including additional venues, schedules, and a map of all the activities.

Bus Party this Thursday (3/27/8)!!!

That's right. This weeks transported bus has Aaron Jae, Bam, and Ernie Trevino performing on it. We know it's a bit expensive, but how many parties can you go to that tour around the city and have a mobile dance floor? I think there's only 1, and this trips about sold out, so get a ticket while you can.

Also, the guest list spots for the EB 4 Year party are filling up really fast & there's only a couple hundred left. If you or any of your friends want to get in for FREE to our little bash, you might want to act now.

Check out a recent mix from Chris Carter here:
www.aaronjae.com/discs/Chr...8-2007.mp3

[2008-03-27]

TransportedSF is excited to welcome three great DJs on our bus on Thursday, March 27th. Aaron Jae and Bam, both from Evil Breaks, and Ernie Trevino, a Space Cowboy. We bring these great DJs on board and then roll around the Bay Area stopping at beautiful outdoor spots for dancing and merriment. We also have a dance floor on the bus. For those of you worried about your carbon imprint rest assured, as we run on veggie oil. Dancing in the same clubs ever week gets old . . . Take it Outside!

We meet at The Rite Spot cafe at 17th and Folsom in San Francisco at 7:30pm for check-in. The bus leaves at 8pm and we return to The Rite Spot at 11:30pm.This event is 21+ and BYOB.

Pre-sale tickets are $20 and you can buy them here: transportedsf.com/
Note that we have sold out every single one of our events in the last six months. If you want on the bus get tix today.

Hold on to your butts - Radiohead to play Golden Gate Park

So it's is not yet confirmed...

But...

http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/2008/02/radiohead_to_play_golden_gate.php

Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Jack Johnson To Play Golden Gate Park's Outside Lands Festival Aug. 22-24

Today an industry source confirmed Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Jack Johnson will headline the first-ever "Outside Lands Festival" in Golden Gate Park August 22-24. The precise, nightly order of the headliners remains unknown. Tickets prices and on-sale dates remain unknown. The source, who operates outside the festival organization and who requested anonymity, says the 160,000-person, three-day inaugural Festival represents a huge coup for local promoting powerhouse Another Planet Entertainment (in conjunction with Superfly), as well as a major boost to San Francisco's festival profile. Outside Lands will come just weeks before the highly esteemed, 2nd Annual Treasure Island Music Festival.

The source's info corroborates circumstantial evidence relating to:

1) Size. According to government documents, APE expects up to 160,000 people over 8.22-24 in GG Park the week before Burning Man for a "major headliner".

2) Timing. The first two dates of the proposed event, Friday Aug. 22 and Sat. Aug. 23 come just a day before Radiohead is rumored to be playing L.A. on 8.24 and 8.25.

4) Location. Radiohead cares about carbon-neutral touring, and wants to site shows at places with transit; like GGP.

5) Experience. APE booked Radiohead before, and they've booked the Park before. They are among the best and the brightest in the Bay, and if anyone could do it, it's them.

We await a statement from the Outside Lands Festival organizers confirming or denying our source's information. They said they have no statement at this time. -David Downs (Oscar Medina contributed to this story.)
"A very special Opulent Temple benefit to save our ass (the camp is 23k in debt from our effort at BM '07), as none other than the West Coast house legend DJ Dan comes to play in support of our efforts. Dan had the set of the week at the OT this year at Burning Man. After Gabriel & Dresden weren't able to make their sunrise set, he stepped in spontaneously and, tagging for a portion of it with his friend Travis, just killed it. He is donating his fee and his time to help us come back in 2008.

We're doing this at Ruby Skye, which we know may seem strange, but this is where he plays in SF and they're giving us a generous cut of the door, as well as full reign to make it our own kind of production. So don't fret, we're taking over the place in most every way, and the night is sure to be a special one!! With OT support from Dutch (Opulent Temple / Thump Radio) Billy Casazza (Opulent Temple / Nutbass), Drew Drop (Opulent Temple), and more tba. $15 discount pre-sale now available."
