help with idea

topic posted Sun, November 25, 2007 - 4:59 PM by  atom is ever...
I want to make an energy drink for a video game however I don't know the laws regarding copyright material and how to find out if indeed I would be breaking any laws.

If I indeed would have to contact the company regarding this idea what should I present them and what should I have prepared?

Any help or direction would be great.

If it isn't your video game then you can' not use the name of the game on your energy drink unless you have an agreement with the owner.

If you do you may get away with it so long as they don't clue in to your using their image or logo or name etc. However, no one will want to be associated with marketing or retailing your product if they suspect that you haven't got a valid license to use the copyrighted material. If you came to me to retail or market it I'd demand to see your license and also get you to execute a hold harmless, indemnification, and defend clause anyway.

if the video game is from large firm (sony, etc) and the energy drink idea is good, be prepared for them to want to purchase it from you...

    what would you need?

    a really good non-disclosure
and a price if they want to buy from you
