I am not sure if you ladies have ever tried this, but I have, and its been GREATLY to my benefit!
I take one thing, could be small, could be big, and eliminate it from my life. you choose the time frame, according to how impatient or disciplined you are. From there, watch your internal reactions, cravings, relief! and even peace from not having this thing in your life.
My friend has tried this with coffee, caffeine, sugar, and alcohol (and more, I believe).I think she did each one for a month.
I've done it with talking, with sexuality, and with meat. No talking from sunup to sundown in one day, no sex for 3 months (which meant no flirting, no masturbating, no sexual innunedo, no suggestive body language) and with meat for 1 month.
All of these had fascinating results to my body, spirit, and mind. It was wonderful.
I recommend trying it!

Re: The elimination game
Fri, October 27, 2006 - 9:32 AMI have abstained from alcohol for a month at a time and hope to do it for about 2-3 months. and like Ohm, I have eliminated people from my life, which I hate doing, but there are some people who are completely toxic and not necessary for smooth and easy living.
I do have a hard time cutting out sugar though. ;-/

Re: The elimination game
Sun, November 19, 2006 - 5:26 PMI used to be Christian (I wasn't raised that way, but I was sent to Episcopalian school and I just got into it for a decade or so). Episcopalians celebrate LENT by giving up a specific thing for 40 days. You're actually supposed to take the money you would usually spend on it and give it to the poor, but I never had that kind of money to spare, so I just gave stuff up. I still do the LENT thing (btw, LENT supposedly stands for Love, Endurance, Nobility, Truth). It's nice to give something up, especially at a time when lots of other people are doing the same thing. I've given up soda, cigarettes, hard alcohol, fried food... I always pick something I see as unhealthy in the first place. It was surprising to me how hard it was to give up soda (at least, it was in high school, when I drank soda every day) and how easy it was to give up cigarettes. -

Re: The elimination game
Tue, December 19, 2006 - 12:12 PMI tried completly eleminating high fructose corn syrup from my diet. This is a lot harder then it sounds! I found that Dole juice is really good for this (unfortunatly still has a high sugar content, but no high fructose corn syrup.) I found that high fructose corn syrup is in everything from pop to bread. Read some ingredient lables you will be suprised how much stuff it's in. I'm suprised they aren't spraying a coating of it on vegetables. I also haven't eaten any meat (except selective seafood) since September. This has made me way more aware of the food I'm eating and eleminating meat is a unique experience; everyone should try it for a month! -

Tue, April 10, 2007 - 4:34 AMI've done this with cigarettes, alcohol, people, meat and I've tried and tried with coffee - can't seem to do it. If I haven't had coffee for over a week, I tend to dream about it. How messed up is that?! -

Re: The elimination game
Tue, April 10, 2007 - 9:16 AMHow much coffee do you drink in a day or week, tho?
you are saying its more about the regularity, versus the quantity...
right? -
