It's coming up FAST! So I have been working with our contact person, Gabby, the last few days on this. We'll be doing an interactive performance in the evening, after dinner. Anyone in St. Louis area that chants, dances, or drums is welcome to participate!

The workshops that Snakes Rising will offer during the day are as follows:

1) Chanting for healing and releasing: Introduction to Threshhold singing and Kirtan. By Amma. One hour. This should be in a quiet place. Maybe even a hotel room. We need a place where one member of the group can lie down and be chanted over by the others. Could serve as a morning "prayer" session.

2) Earth Centered Chants for the Evening's Performance. By Amma. One hour. We do need to be away from loud interuptions, but not as quiet as the first session. I may ask Jajira to work on make-up and costuming with me in this session. We'll be doing a 'Green Tour" performance, which is very forest oriented. Waking up the trees etc..... mid-day if possible.

3) Introductory Dumbek by Dave. This is a LOUD workshop. 1 1/2 hours as a rule. In the afternoon, I'd suggest, as drummers may come for this and stay to "perform" in the drum circle ... but not be there all weekend. Folks who want to drum for the chanting or dancing in the evening MUST attend.

4) Introduction to bellydance by Shiva Raye and Jajira. 1 1/2 to 2 hours (depends on size of group.) Shiva Raye and Jajira will lead attendees in one or two brief "choreographies" for the evening performance. These will be *beginner* oriented with a choice of Cabaret style (by Shiva Raye) and American Tribal Style (by Jajira.) This should be afternoon, for late arrivers who wish to stay and perform.
