    This would prevent most theist from taking office as well, Judaism and Christianity both hold that taking a oath is a sin, and even greater to swear to God or to Heaven.

      Either you are an incredibly fast reader, or you actually didn't bother to read much of the above listing (I couldn't help
      noticing your reply only five minutes after my initial post)...Once again, *sigh*, get out your dictionary; you seem
      to be confused by the use of the idiom and the definition of "oath"- obviously, most of out elected officials ARE Christian
      or Jewish and either they have a rudimentary understanding of language or are, as you seem to be implying, commiting
      a sin...think it through a little more next time?
