A big hi to all the tribe - and a welcome to those newly joined. As most of you probably know, I have not been able to update this tribe in quite some time. December was a very busy month at the shop, what with the change of premises and all! And then January brought with it a trip to India (all work of course!) and all the adventure and exciting new goods after a successful trip. I am back a week now and finally have caught up with the customs clearance and other paperwork and am totally ready for work again.
This being a very quick update, I wont bore you with too much more details. Suffice it to say that I have plenty of new items for you belly dancers! We now have a very big range of fully made costumes and full sets in the Egyptian and Lebanese styles. New designs, better quality sequins, bigger sizes and heavier coins. For those on the look out for tribal costumes and accessories, look no further. Your search ends at SOMA:) Straight from some of the most remote tribal settlements in India, I have hand picked fabulous coin necklaces, solid haslis, hair bells, gunghroo belts, anklets and arm bands. Each better than the other, most pieces are atleast 60 - 70 years old and are made by the tribes for personal use (not for sale) - you wont find these items anywhere else (apart from the villages themselves). I also have a limited selection of full tribal skirts and blouses with a lot of mirror and metal work.
To satisfy those who get a kick of making their own costumes, I have plenty of open patch worked cloth/fabric pieces of various sizes in tribal style. Makes costume making easier and keeps the fingers from being totally worn out! Loose coins, cowrie material and plenty more items in stock now.
Over the next few days I will try to catalogue the goods with images and descriptions for those of you who are far from Cork. Those in Cork have no excuse for not calling into the shop to take a look at the goods personaly - I promise, you wont be disappointed, not at all. Looking forward to meeting the regulars and new customers and revelling in your admiration (of the stock) !!
