Check the photos section of this tribe for a few pre-install picts from the upcoming gallery show at Santa Rosa Junior College's new Doyle Library. Visit their site for more info: www.srjcburningmanshow.blogspot.com/
From the many word-of-keyboard messages being passed around already, I would think this is going to be an exciting opening. Plans are in the works for fire performance and other fun Playa-style events both inside and out of the gallery.
At the gallery while shooting picts, I was able to chat at length with Graton artist Tony Speirs. He coordinated some large-scale collaborative works for the Burning Man base exhibits and is installing them again for this show. Some of the featured artists are Will Smith and Todd Barricklow among dozens of others who submitted work from around the globe. I've heard much about Tony's work and love what I've seen online: tonyspaintings.blogspot.com/
I'm sure I'll see tons of Burners there for the party evening on Friday, February 22nd, 6-9pm, 2008. I can't wait! There is an official afternoon opening on Thursday, February 21st from 4-6pm as well.
P.S. There was also talk of a need for an after-party on Friday night... Anyone have ideas on where to go about that...? This could be a very fun evening!
