Sage Advice!

I read this on the Indigo tribe and just loved it! Hope it helps you when you feel like you just don't practice enough; RB feels the same way!

"Well, I'm re-discovering the simplest of things: Small, consistent practices are more important than sporadic, four-hour sessions. I knew that, but still had some sort of weird drama around my practice schedule, but I saw something that changed this.

I'm here in Germany, working with Beata and Horacio Cifuentes, and they've picked me up from the train station and are finishing a few things at their dance studio before taking me to the hotel.

Beata says to Horacio, "Can we very quickly just run the duet? And I'd like to run my piece just one time, then I'll be ready to go."

This seems simple, but it was like a slap to the forehead to me. You mean if you're hopping busy you can just run a piece a few times? I always make this big, huge deal about my big "PRAAAACTIIIIICE", and lately I've just been feeling too busy to do one.

So now, if I don't have any time, I'll just run a piece or two for 5 minutes. It's much better than not dancing that day.

So simple, but such a relief."

Flamenco Classes in da O.C.!!

Yes, it's about time I give mad props to my homegirl/teacher and friend, Claudia de la Cruz and her Flamenco Institute! If it wasn't for this fine lady, I wouldn't be teaching is such a rad studio in da O.C.! It all started with a recommendation from FatChanceBellydance alumni and founding member, Rina Rall, who said get thee to a Sevillanas class if ya wanna work on your posture. It was thee best advice I have been given in a long time! I missed a workshop given by Rina at the studio by a couple of months!!!

The Claudia de la Cruz Flamenco Institute is located in the heart of the artists colony in Santa Ana, CA. She is currently expanding the studio to accomadate the ever increasing enrollment and heightened interest in this dance. And my ATS students certainly are inspired being around the Flamenco vibe! It's been a match made in heaven!

Visit her website: http://www.tierra-flamenca.com/ I highly recommend taking her Sevillanas classes on Wed or Sun. You will see ALOT of where ATS is derived from. It's like coming home..... Sevillanas is a beautiful dance that can be done either as a soloist or with a partner (just like........) It has done wonders for my dance, posture, stage presence.....I can't say enough about her or this dance!

Tribal Fest!

So my hubby, my partner Rachael & I leave for Tribal Fest early Friday morning, I'm MC'ing the Friday after party, then on Saturday nite, Rachael & I as Mirabelle are doing our ATS thang to live music (my hubby!) and maybe a little surprise later on in the evening as well!!!!

Also, I'll be helping out at the Geisha Moth booth both days! Hope to see some of you there! Remember to say hi and if I give you that look of....."uh...do I owe you money!?!" then please remind me of your beautiful name!!! Safe travels everyone!

Irwindale Renn Faire this Sunday!

Yeah, I know it's Mother's Day but fortunately I live next door to my parents so everyday is Mother's Day! Anyways, I will be a guest of Marjhani & Oojahm at the Irvindale Renn Faire this Sunday, May 11th! I can't wait! The last time I was out there it was brutally hot!!! And I had my partner with me.......now, I'll be flying solo.......expect the unexpected! MUWAHAHAHAHA!!!! Hope to see some of you there!!! Don't forget to bring your Mom! Huzzah!

Behind the Orange curtain!

Welll, it seems we have Gibson Pearl, Rachel Brice and now Julia from Gypsy Fire in Bend, OR who are OC girls! Who knew!!!???? I love it!!! Julia's family is in Huntinton Beach and she moved to Bend in 1993! Anybody else!?!? By the way, Bend is way cool! Went there with the Solace tour and had a blast! A thriving metropolis!!

I actually came to OC from Compton! Back in the 60's it was basically Anytown, USA and then the wind shifted as you all know....moved to Fullerton in 1972 and in 2002, my hubby and i bought the house next door to my parents house! AND my brothers live just 2 doors down, that's how cool this neighborhood is! I can't wait to put ATS and OC on da map! It's about frikkin' time!

Sister Studio!

For those of you who haven't read my blog yet, I was officially granted by Carolena Nericcio, creator of ATS & director of FatChanceBellydance, Sister Studio status! Which means that if you come to my classes or workshops, wherever I'm teaching, you will get the same instruction that you would find at the SF studio! I follow the same format, the same schedule, I teach exclusively ATS. I'm so proud of this achievement and have been having the time of my life spreading the gospel according to ATS!

I look forward to seeing some of my local dance sistahs and also any of you outta towners, drop on in! You'll have bunches of fun!

Volunteer - 2008 MECDA Belly Dance Carnival

Hello everyone. I am the Volunteer Coordinator for MECDA’s 2008 Belly Dance Carnival. This year’s Carnival will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 7 & 8, 2008, at Santa Anita Park Racetrack and we are currently seeking Volunteers.

Remember, on the day that you volunteer 2 hours of your time, ADMISSION IS FREE!!!!
Volunteer for 2 hours each day and ADMISSION IS FREE FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!!!!

MECDA HQ/Info/Bag Check
Program Sales

Stage Manager (Limited Number)

Vendor Helpers
Volunteer Check in

Classes in May!

Tuesday nites in Santa Ana we will be starting the Level 1 & Level 2 cycle again. For the complete cycle, go to www.fcbd.com Classes are held at the Claudia de la Cruz Flamenco Academy. Bring your zills!

And I'm excited to announce that starting this Thursday, May 8th, I will be offering 2 more classes in the city of Placentia! At 7 p.m. will be an all levels Drills class and then at 8 p.m., I will finally be offering an Advance class! (note: advance class will be by instructor approval)
