I've been a prep-fiend the past two weeks. I think I'm doing pretty good. Only a few more things to get ready.

It won't be long now.

you know, the second year seems SOOOO much easier to prepare for than last year. last year at this time I was frantic, researching so many topics, ordering stuff offline, getting all my equipment in order, working at it like every night after work! this year, since I have almost everything I need equipment-wise, I'm spending more time emailing peeps about activities on the playa. btw, last year, I was like a tourist in NYC looking up at all the buildings... lol... I never really did many "events", just rode around the playa mostly... this year, I plan to visit more camps for their activities... some special things I've found so far:

monday midnight - trilo's party at 12 o'clock & trash fence (eclipse night)
wed night - mutaytor at tsunami www.burning-tsunami.net/
friday night - mutaytor at "crude awakening" 90' tower shoots flame, fireworks & burns

please post any interesting special events that you've run across...

btw, after I got home last year I saw in the WWW there was a Tribe get-together I missed... any idea if there's one this year?

I'm getting excited. I've been making mental lists (so inefficient!) and such. I've dragged out my suitcase with costume bits in it to go through. My intent is to cull what I brought but never wore last year (bye big fairy wings), what wasn't comfy and leave only those items I really liked and wore. Then, I have a few very simple costuming projects (I don't sew, so the have to be very simple!). We set up our equipment last night (shade, etc.) to make sure we hadn't misplaced anything and still had all the necessary stakes and such.

I know this year, I want to see more, especially at night (late night!). More dancing! I want to walk more, so I can interact with more people. I think I missed a lot on the bike (though for visiting art out past the man, the bike is a life saver!).

I'm planning on working a couple shifts at the cafe, just for fun. This year will be a LOT different for me, since a lot of my friends who went last year aren't going this year (we didn't camp together last year, but I'd run into them here and there) and my sweetie is working more shifts at the cafe, so I'll have a lot more time on my own. I'm determined to not be all closed off and shy!

So much to do, so little time!
