Hey group,
Has anyone tried or heard the Remo Tabla that Souhail and Issam endorse?
If so, how do you like it?

Re: Remo Tabla
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 9:39 AMI played one a few times at the Remo RMC back when it was still a prototype. Sounds really good and new film Remo is using for the head on it is pretty amazing.

Re: Remo Tabla
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 11:53 AMIf you get chance to catch the Belly Dance Super Stars on their current tour, ask Issam if you can try their's. The BDSS use the new Remo drum in the show, and what better way for Issam to promote it. However, Issam is still loyal to his Gawharet but I did witness Sonia playing it during the group drum. Hey, I'm trying to be politically correct, "Sonia the dancer was playing the Remo drum"....she's a sweetie! Of course i couldn't hear it.....Issam's overpowering doums and "gunshot" pops vaporized any sound from any of the other dancer's drums essentially rendering them as "eye candy decorations" surounding the Wasson Pharoon. I'm not dissing BDSS, just calling it like it saw it. Hey, when Souhail returns to Wash. D.C. in April, I'll ask him to bring one and I'll give you the full report.

p.s. yes I have one of every type and may have to add this to the collection if deemed worthy -

Re: Remo Tabla
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 8:28 PMI saw the show in Atlanta, but the Remo drum just sat at the side of the stage til Sonja played it.
I couldn't hear what she was playing, her notes were very light.
Rev, what kind of drum head is on it, what did you like about what Remo's doing with it?
What was different about the plastic?
