DirtShack Meals

So, anyone wanna do camp meals at all? I think camp breakfasts make good sense since, for at least me, I can't be sure I'll wake up for the Lupin Lodge breakfast. And at other times, it's a nice thing too.

Who can bring what? I've got a camp kitchen and 2 burner camp stove. Does anyone have a folding table they can bring for kitchen counter space? (I'd have to move ALL the paperwork off the table in my office, and I'd prefer not to do that. :)

OK - I'm kicking in some breakfast goodies (bacon, eggs, other stuff), and a pool party cocktail which is TBD (although it will probably involve rum and some fresh juices).

Hey, does anyone know what the reg is this weekend on campstoves? Can we have them? Someone just advised me that they thought these are prohibited up at Lupin.

Nevermind -- it was right there on the website, had I bothered to look.

Well, I must be missing something (other than a screw or two ;) I couldn't find out from the website if stoves are allowed or not.. I presume the normal propane camp stove is, while open fires themselves are probably not???

Also, I'd like to kick in for breakfast. I was thinking of bringing coffee or something suitable for the masses (make it in big batches will be the trick).. Is anyone coordinating breakfast or is it a free for all :) Let me know if I can help, otherwise I might just set up my own coffee/espresso booth ;)

Propane camp stoves are fine. I don't think there is anyone coordinating a breakfast, but I love the idea of an espresso booth!

Yes, propane stoves are acceptable and open flames/bbq grills are not.

I will be doing some hot breakfast items on Sunday since now I'm greeting from 8 to 11 Saturday a.m. If someone else would take on Saturday's breakfast, we'll have most major meal times covered.

          Thanks, Tripod!

Oh Blysse, I may have misunderstood ... are you organizing brekky treats for just the Dirt Shack camp, or is it open to anyone who comes to visit the camp in the morning? (In which case, yeah Tripod should set up by you!)

Well, my intention was for DirtShack camp. I haven't got the scratch to feed the entire populace.

There's a dining room at the Lodge that serves 3 meals a day. I was trying to coordinate some simple camp breakfast items for DirtShack camp because I totally missed the breakfast at the last Lupin event I attended. I am bringing enough for myself and maybe a dozen or so others.

If people want to bring their potluck items over to Dirtshack and set-up there, then we can probably make a really nice community breakfast. Since I'm busy Saturday a.m., I'm personally coordinating the meal on Sunday and someone else will need to make sure Saturday's meal happens.

There. Don't mean to be exclusory, but I just can't take on a "feeding the masses" enterprise personally.

There will be a pot luck -- anchored by Anthony and Mary! -- on Sat., June 20, at the DirtShack at 6:00 p.m. Bring yumminess! Drinks and food will be happily accepted.

There will also be a tiki party at the DirtShack at this time! Any thing you can bring in the way of alcohol (read RUM) and fruit juice will be GREATLY appreciated!

Happy to have breakfast both days in my camp, too!

                  YAY!

I can hear Anthony downstairs right now chunk, chunk, chunk, cutting the potatoes. We just made a vat of polenta and spread it out in sheet pans, he has a pile of veggies and was just looking up tempura batter recipes. It is ON!

I'm bringing my camp stove (coleman), plus my van has a 2 burner propane and a toaster oven, crock pot, etc. plus (if I get elec) a fridge, cooler, margarita machine. I cooked up a killer batch of salsa and home made tortillas to make my famous carne asada tacos. not enough for 500... although making more tortillas on site is a piece of cake (or masa). I also have a folding table (30x30). I'm a big foodie. Is the dirtShack near the RV hookups?

I'll be there early tomorrow - 17' chevy van - white and blue - looking for a home....
