what is your experience of them?
i know personally the geometry thing in them puts me off and i never get past the first page
I have a strong reaction against anything that is geometry based

again it contains all that left right malarkey and therefore is a turnoff
How do you experience those yourselves?

Well the IQ tests I took showed me as average but my EQ was high. Then there is the whole right and left brain hemisphere thing too. Personally, I think it is less what you have and more how you use it. I also think IQ is measure only in a certain way and if you process that way you will have a higher one. My father actually has a genius IQ.

Oh, I see you did mention the right and left brain stuff. My husband works with stroke victims and you can tell which hemisphere they stroked on by how they act (logic or emotional impairment) and of course sometimes by which side of their body has paralysis.

I took a drawing on the right side of the brain class, holy cow! the headaches I got. We had to learn to see differently then how we are normally taught. We had to do things like draw the negative space instead of the actual chair. If you practice enough you learn to see differently and you can actually draw the chair using those methods.

I was just so amazed how my head would ache when I did this. The process was kind of like looking at those dot paintings that suddenly turn 3-D when we learn to see in that way. For some, especially artists, it comes easily (not for this non-right brain dominant artist!).

The class was extremely helpful in teaching us to not just takes constructs at face value but to see them in a different way. In a painting we might expect the light to come from a certain spot or a tree to look a certain way because we've hardwired our brain in that way. But when we looked at it differently, as we did in the drawing on the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain class we see it more clearly.

I had IQ tests administered twice, by a pych's. scored 140 plus, really low on short term audio and visual memory, that brings my average way down, If not for low short term memory, it would be more like 160 or more plus; abstract thinking by it self if 180 plus. The test done by a pysch. in person is different then writen and oline tests. They use other things to deterine IQ in each area of brain function.

I use heavlily the right side of my brain. But what causes problems too, I have cross domaince problems, I am left footed, left eyed, but right handed. Also I am ambidexterous and seem to have redunit nerve wiring, and it takes like 7 times the amount of pain killers to even make a hint of a mark in degrees in feeling in dental work, also the same thing when I had bone marrow biopsty done decades ago. They give me 7 shots instead of one, and the feeling is still there; anyone else like this, nerves won't deaden very easily?

Yeah, I mention in another tribe that my body sucks up medication (like shots from the Dentists) fast then clears it out at hyper speeds so they keep having to shoot me up. And that is probably why I have such odd/scary reactions to any medication and some herbs. I just found out that happens to others in my family - Native American side.

Redundant nerves eh David? Sound like a cool evolutionary process as long as you don't have to numb them - like creating alternate and seemingly redundant neural pathways in the brain. I wonder if that describes empaths in general. Most seem to have hyper awareness and sensitivity.

From what I understand one can work to increase R/L hemisphere balance with certain mental/physical exercises. I had a chiropractor who used to use cross crawl exercises for pain management and it seemed to work. Although I come out close to 50/50 I am now learning how to actually utilize the gifts from that rather then doing what I've done most of my life - pulling myself in two different directions (thus getting nowhere).

Lets hear it for honoring and playing up our strengths/gifts then very lightly stretching our challenges!

My VA dentist told me, some people have nerves in a little different place, for dental shots, and he did try a snot a little higher up, bit it only helped a little more. She told me, I am the first person she has every encountered, where she could not effective kill the pain. But then too she has never seen anyone like me, with such good teeth, at my age of 61. Had my first cavity filled at 40, and had a couple in the last few years, really small ones on on the root areas. Candida or etc eroded some of my gum and jaw years ago, exposing a little of my roots on the upper back teeth; they are more prone to cavities, not protected by heavy tooth enamel. My teeth, are like dentures, they tell me. The dental hygienist tells me, she has only seen one other person in her years of practice, with teeth like mine.

Do any of you guys have teeth like this? I guess it is a good thing my teeth are hard, cannot imagine dealing with a bunch of cavities, and not being able to turn the pain off to fix them.

              David

I've got good strong teeth but have had fillings (not sure how many of them I actually needed) but since I don't like pain I get regular cleanings and checkups these days - prevention. Was pretty malnourished as a child so am surprised my teeth are so good.

    >"How do you experience those yourselves? "<

Shan, its been only recently that I have to take a IQ test about 3 times before I get a decent and viable score.

Before I took a couple of take home IQ tests and scored under 100. I used to think it was a cultural difference thing, but now I'm wondering if it is my dyslexia. I also recently found out I cannot do math to the level I need to to be a math teacher, no matter how hard I try.
