For the last three years, various Fire Artists from around Seattle have created a performance in the International Fountain at Seattle Center for their Winter Solstice Celebration (December 22nd and 23rd this year). Happy with the results over the last three years, the folks at Seattle Center have decided they would like to turn this performance into a festival and we need your help.

The plan this year is to fill the grounds around Fisher Plaza and The International Fountain with fire sculpture, fire performance, pyro and more. There is opportunity for daytime activities as well as evening time programming and events.

We have some amazing sculptors and performers lined up but we still need performers for the collaborative performance that takes place inside the Fountain. We are also looking for help with fire safety for the event.

If you are interested in participating, please contact me ASAP – we have already begun rehearsing but we are about 6 people short of what we need to properly fill the fountain with fire.

Requirements: poi skills – plus one other tool – fire hoop would be awesome (we have 2 hoopers now) – staff or double staff/batons also really great

The choreography is somewhat basic – the impact comes from the volume, placement and pattern of the fire

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings on Capitol Hill – the shows are on Dec 22 & 23 and there will be a tech/burn rehearsal the weekend before.

You’ll use your own tools for the most part – fuel is covered – costuming is your own but is pretty basic/cheep & easy to get.
