Essential Reading

I've been reading up different books and online articles about how to become self-sufficient as our civilization slowly powers down.
Here are some exceptional things that I've found. If anyone else has things to share I would love to hear them.

Books:
The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight - Thom Hartmann
Incredible book....I strongly recommend reading it if you are concerned about the state of the world and wondering what you can do.

Garden Planet - William H. Kotke
Another great book exploring similar ideas of creating sustainable culture after the crash. This one is considerably shorter than Last Hours.

Sites:
Ran Prieur - ranprieur.com
Has my vote for the most interesting blog. All of the writings on there are excellent. He has back issues of zines he wrote and an unfinished but fascinating novel called Apocalypsopolis

Dmitry Orlov - energybulletin.net/23259.html
Excellent presentation on the similarities and differences between the collapse of the Soviet Union and the upcoming collapse of the US Empire. Very useful for figuring out what is really important!
Also Thriving in the Age of Collapse: www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/Ori...html

Thom Hartmann - www.thomhartmann.com/commondreams.shtml
Great articles!

Business Reply - centennialsociety.com/busines...eply.htm
Hilarious especially if you work in an office!

I'll share more later

I've read Endgame Volume I....definitely one of the most provocative books I've ever read...Very well written too...so much so that I am still building up courage to read Volume 2! I will check out Collapse...perhaps we can do a book swap sometime..I never did get you Perdurabo that day...
