My name is Nikki (melancholy harlot on eplaya). Can't wait to return home to Stag Camp; spent the better part of the weekend dreaming, costuming, and missing you all, old friends and new. I'm finishing up (in June!!!) a long delayed degree in English. I began at Tulane and hold a deep love for New Orleans, spent two interim years living on an olive farm in Israel and then working at a Chicago law firm, and now I'm finishing at DePaul. Within weeks (or possibly days) after this burn, I'm departing with the Peace Corps, most likely for Morocco.
My horoscope in "The Onion" this week was: "After months of backbreaking effort, you'll finally finish your first novel. Now, imagine how difficult it'd be to actually write one." That being said, it is my greatest aspiration.
Can't wait to meet you all. Much love.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, March 12, 2008 - 10:24 PMMy first BM was 2007 after years to trying to get out there. Stayed at Stag camp and met the most cool people around. Looking forward to this year. I promise to get my dome put up correctly this time around. In the default world i'm in aerospace, write, and run. I'm back in school in a master's program for knowledge management. I know - what's that? When I find out you'll be the first to know. -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 2:39 AM2007 was my first go around but thankfully not my last as I have received my ticket for this year and am coming with stag, or should I say going stag? I am already excited, dreaming and wishing it were here already. I want to be around cool people, laid back people, diverse people, and enjoy it all. I remember christine and her husband (curtis I think) most of all. But the hospitality was grand. I just got a letter from yosemite in regards to a job so I am hoping that goes through as it would be a great summer. Much better than LA. Peace for now.

Can't wait to meet ya'll ;) Pleasures all mine!!!
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 6:41 PMHey all thanks for being so welcoming,
Lil'bit about who I am... My names Jeff, also known on the internet as Myth or Cin. I'll be 25 by the time we all meet, can't wait! for the good vibes at burning man that is, in regards to the age doh... it surely goes by fast! I currently live down south on the eastern coast of the states. But who knows where life's gonna place me next. Never really had roots anywhere, spent the last decade traveling all over. I'm big into reading/listening to anything and everything. Being a sponge and absorbing everything is how I try to live life, open minded to the fullest. Yet I suppose I look and seem like the most conservative yet free spirit you'll probably ever meet... oxymoronic...
I'm self employed in the technology industry (do what I know to get by, trying to keep me happy as can be) and have developed quite the love/hate relationship for the field and all it entails. I aspire to be a student of life, for life :) oh and write a book one day too Nikki ;) Love the outdoors, have gone on a few 28 day outdoors courses yet find my self struggling to stay active as time goes on. So I end up going stag and flinging my self as deeply as i can into all sorts of new situations to keep me on my toes. Been reading on eplaya and on here, and feels great thus far!
I met a couple down in Central America a few years back and totally hit it off with them. They told me about their Burningman adventure, reggae on the river and so much more... and I knew i needed to make the time at some point to be a part of the awesome energy.
I haven't bought my ticket just yet, or figured how I am going to get there... Still learning about the whole process. But without doubt I'll be there! Hoping to find someone to make the traverse cross country with, I figured I'd take a train ride and get some reading/writing time in, get a lil pumped up and see if I can then bus it in from the train station? Or do i have to do the "traditional" fly in and rent a truck? Where do you leave your vehicle once you get there?
Thoughts and opinions on all that would be great. I was thinking, I'd bring a hiking backpack with enough supplies but then again having a car where i can charge a video camera would be great. I hope to document and share with the world the "Real Dream", to be free to be express who you are, ya know!
Love the idea of Stag Camp, can't wait to be a part of it all! Look forward to getting to know all of ya!!!

Re: Can't wait to meet ya'll ;) Pleasures all mine!!!
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 9:52 PMWelcome Jeff! You'll make a great addition to our family!
As far as the practical stuff goes, get your ticket now and figure out the details later. So many rumors buzzing this year about ticket caps and, worse can scenario, you can sell it one ebay. There will be people at the last minute who are in dire need of a ticket; better to be in the position of being able to help them out then hunting with them! There are a few people in our camp talking about doing some serious driving. Stay in touch here and on eplaya and you might be able to hook up with someone. Though having a car makes it so much easier to shlep stuff. You park your car on the playa and camp next to it.
Anyhow, I'm half braindead from finals so that's all the help I can be, but... there's a wealth of knowledge in our camp, and... Read the SURVIVAL GUIDE! Scour the internet. There are tons of homepages with great advice and some funny videos from halcyon on youtube. Make a list of your needs and figure out the most comfortable way for you to address them.
But get your ticket!
And welcome home!!! -

Re: Can't wait to meet ya'll ;) Pleasures all mine!!!
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 10:52 AMhey all,
i'm excited too see new and old people from all over returning to and joining stag.
my first burn was in 2005 with another camp and while i had a great time i didn't make the same connections and friendships that i made with my 2007 return to brc. with stag camp.everyone in stag camp was so welcoming ,warm ,giving and genuine that i can't imagine camping with anyone else.
jeff, welcome to the bunch.
as far as getting your ticket, nikki makes a great point, get it now!!!
as far as getting there to have a car is nice but you can certainly get by without. my first burn my boy and i flew from boston to reno with no idea how we were going to get to burningman. we took a cab to sparks to do our grocery shopping and knocked on the door of the first rv that we saw. the owner of the rv (also the owner of a small winery) welcomed us and our luggage . a bottle of red later i was joining my camp...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 5:11 PMHeyy everyone!
I came across this on eplaya and thought I would give it a shot :)
I'm a 21 year old female from Ontario Canada. I'm currently a student taking a media arts type program, which I love but I can't wait to finish. I love to draw and paint, and I'm also a big fan of biking and skateboarding.
I've decided to venture to Burning man just to meet new people and have a good time, although I havent quite figured out how to get there or who I'm going with which is part of the fun eheh. I'm looking at flying in since I think that would be the easiest way.... let me know if anyone is up for carpooling:)
I think the idea of stag camp is awesome, and a great chance to meet some new people,... can't wait.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 4:49 PMHello Staggers!
My name is Robert J. Day Esq. AKA Lonestoner. I am a twenty-six year old writer/construction worker/hopeless dreamer/vagabond who's into everything under the sun and some more stuff! Just your average intellectualhipsterstonerhippiefreakactivist, ready to take on the world with a belly full of Red Bull, a head full of Acid, and an extensive vocabulary!
I'm currently spending my days lurking about Tribe and ePlaya, whilst checking my email every five minutes and YouTubeing it up like crazy, occasionally doing research for several unfinished short stories of mine that I'm trying to compile into a collection for publication, smoking herb and doing pretty much ANYTHING but actually finishing the fucking stories, anything but that, or pretty much any REAL writing, I'm stuck in a bit of a slump, and it's all Burning Man's fault.
Last year was my first burn, I camped with a bunch of random strangers, most of them knew each other but there were a couple people like me that were virgins also. This year I hope to work for the DPW, which is why I check my email every 38 seconds, I'm waiting to hear if I've been accepted or not, and the suspense is killing me! My feelings will be hurt if I for some reason don't make the cut, but at least then I can camp with you crazy stag people, and I'll still work with DPW after the event, scoopin the MOOP. In the meantime, my ticket money is burning a man in my pocket, if I knew I was in with DPW I could get some cool gifts and make some cool art, or if I'm not in then I could just buy my damn ticket already! Either way I'm going to be working shifts at the airport and the cafe, and I hope to write something for the Black Rock Beacon, and hopefully do some kind of radio show... -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 11:07 PMHello Family,
My name is ReBecca, i go by twinwitin(forgot to check my spelling when signing up, ha ha!) on e-playa. i am coming to Burning man with my best friend of 20 years, also Rebecca. i refer to her as sister on e-playa. We are soooo amped, jazzed, excited, and "burning" to get to brc!!! We are both virgins whoo-hoo virgins again!! i plan on saying it alot, just kidding!! ha haha
Anyway, we are both wives, moms, readers, gardeners,s.c.a.ers? and very gooood cooks. i am definitely not one to brag, buuut when you see me, you will say, she has to be a good cook!!! ha ha ha
We are both very different also. She is more book smart, where as i am a smart ass! She is a cancer moon goddess, while i am a gemini changling!
So, enough of that. i am really looking forward to meeting everyone, i am ready for some art, dust, booze, and bacon!

Re: Introduce Yourself
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 3:53 PMCopied from the Stag 1 tribe thread
"G'day there kids!
I am Dill ( crappypants over at eplaya). I’m a 21 year old Australian web and preprint designer.
Burning Man for me will be the first stop on an around the world journey of self and worldly discovery. I have never been too far from home before, and I will be throwing myself out into the world with just a backpack and a smile. For the most part I am a shy quiet guy, I hope that being stuck smack bang in the middle of nowhere with thousands of strangers will have an impact on that. I can not wait. Look forward to cracking the first cold beer with all of you on the playa."
not long now! wooooo. -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 8:46 PMHello Staggers,
My name is Shell, you might know me better as "plowman" on ePlaya
No. Iam not a farmer. I work for NDOT. I'm the guy you swear at because I closed
a lane of traffic and slowed you down so I can fill in that pot hole that would have wrecked your vehicle
and maybe hurt you and anyone close to you.
I'm also the guy you honk and wave to because you just followed me and my snowplow over the summit
and you know your journey will be a safe one.
Even when you are mad at me I feel good knowing that I have something to do with keeping you safe
on interstate 80.
This will be my 6th burn in a row (don't know how to spell consecutive).
Last year was FANTASTIC. We all came together as one without ever meeting each other
face to face. We are all friends, just some of us haven't met yet, and I'm very much looking forward to that.
The playa can be harsh so read the survival guide and be prepared.
Some people hunker down during the dust storms but we spring into action, making sure everyones "house" is secure
and won't blow away. Then we embrace Mother Nature by partying in the dust
Frisbee in the dust and wind, or sitting around and spanking the bag
I guess our theme would be (if we had one) radical self relience and assistance when needed with one
hell of a good group of people to party with -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 1:06 PMWarmest Greetings Staggers,
My name is Rebecca, or Mor on the eplaya, though I haven't had a chance to post there yet. You probably know me as Twin's sister. I just wanted to introduce myself while I actually have a few moments to myself. Twin is here and we need to get ou t the greenhouse and work on our transplants before we lose this precious bit of sunshine we have been granted today. I am very excited to go to my first Burning Man (totally out of character for me). I've been reading all the great info on self sufficiency on the playa. I'm a lover of gardening, seed saving, all things celtic, the SCA, sewing, music from all genres, bacon bowls filled with yum, all things historical including family histories, a great story, great food of every variety, friendly & kind hearted people, kids of all ages, animals (especially dogs & puppies, and STAGS), and most of all, fun. I dislike cruelty in all forms, lack of water (we are bringing SO much water), pessimism (love pragmatism though), bossy folk and absence of fun. I can't wait to meet everyone. I have been reading some of your posts and Twin has been keeping me updated and informed. Looking forward to being a new member of stag camp this year.
Now, off to the greenhouse!
Sincerely, Mor -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 7:14 PMJust checking in -- been feeling very delinquent lately. Working 40 hours a week and going to school 20 has about sapped all the energy I've got, for the moment. Just wanted to say: thinking of you all. It makes me ecstatic and blows my mind every time I check tribe (fervently and secretly from work -- I sit in a bit atrium and EVERYONE can watch me all day long...) So much wonderful energy from everyone...
Love in absentia,
Nikki -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 7:17 PMWell hello all my fellow Staggites, Staggletts, Staggers ummmmm…ah hell be nice I am feeling slow today. I know “slow children at play” comes to mind again I ask be nice.
So this is my first burn but not for lack of trying. The previous two years I had given away my ticket because of last minute unavoidable detours in my life. But not this year nothing short of death will stop me (please don’t post/send me lists of things that will stop me) This year the stars are in alignment, I have a new boss that understands taking off more than 2 days is a vacation, money in the bank to cover life’s issues thrown my way and a family that is willing to let go of me for a week. I am playa bound baby!!! As for who am I…well my name is John and I am a geek by trade. Then again the geekyness has been known to leak out every now and then during non work hours. Enough already I just can’t take the strain of the wait…I so yearn to be sitting in the open playa surrounded by people keyed and queued for seeing their first playa sunrise followed by days filled with experiences the range the spectrum just to end it surrounded by the same people watching that final sunset as we drive away with our heads already filling with dreams of playa dust covered days waiting for that first sunrise…SEE YOU ALL THERE

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 2:02 PMAfter attempting to post an introduction about a thousand times one night while tribe was "experiencing difficulties," I forgot to the next day.... so, nearly a month passes and I am here, finally remembering that I ought to actually balls to the wall and post something.
So
Hi. I'm Stefanie...(I hope I'm not the only one who wants to finish the beginning of "Hi or Hey, my name is" with some reference to being in an AA meeting.... or that "Hey my name is Alice and my husbands name is Aaron...." roadtrip game that I swear to ford, no one can actually enjoy...) I already cannot remember my eplaya name or my password for that matter.... that's how good I am. I don't just forget one important piece of information.... Anyway, let's try this a little more formal.... okay?
Hi. I'm Stefanie. I reside currently in Chicago with my cat, Spoon. After a short stint at Northwestern as a Chemistry major, I transfered into DePaul and there I am currently attempting to get the hell out of dodge, I mean, I am attempting to graduate as a Sculpture/English double major. I earn my income editing high school textbooks, which is basically what it sounds like... the worst job ever invented to keep people who can read constantly questioning whether or not they can read. In other words, if this job was vacuum and instead of showing up to work, you sent your soul....yeah, you get the picture. So, that whole formal thing lasted, what, like three, maybe four, sentences, if that. My only reason for writing as though I'm talking to someone is.... well, I think it's kind of funny that if no one reads this, I just talked to myself and don't have a clue that it happened.
This will be my second burn and second year with Stag Camp. Last year, Nikki and I improvised our way out to Burning Man with less than a month to plan. We were super prepared for the burn....not so much for the journey... As in, (scene change: Nikki and Stefanie in Nikki's dad's car driving west from Chicago)
Nikki: "Will you grab the atlas and see where we are?"
Stefanie: "Sure." (Some time passes.... I had to grab the silly atlas) "Uh... near Iowa."
(Some more time passes as I flipped through the atlas)
Stefanie: "Where are we driving to again?"
Nikki: "Reno"
Stefanie: "Okay, that's what I thought..... uhhhhh, you do realize that's basically California, right?"
Nikki: "What?"
I rest my case.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 2:11 PMOkay, I'm also a complete space cadet. Two orders of business. I'm 23..... and
I am the one organizing the stag camp greeter shift. I also have (unanimously, one for/none against) dictated myself in charge of volunteer information and efforts while on the playa and in the camp... so if any of you have any questions regarding volunteering or places that are accepting individuals to volunteer a shift or two once on the playa, I'm your girl...
I will be posting a whole new board or whatever it's called soon. Well, soon by my book... so within the next week or so....
Much love...
p.s. I miss you all!!!! and for those of us who haven't met.... I pre-miss you!!!!

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 6:24 PMHey all,
I believe this is my first appearance on stag 2.0. I've been pretty busy with school & work but I plan on posting much more frequently come May. As there are a # of new folks in Stag this year I'll toss out a quick intro/update. I'm currently working full time as a Legal Assistant for a DC law firm and finishing up my 1L year at George Mason Law. Beyond that I really have no life at the moment. This'll be me & my dad's 2nd burn (last year was our first). A few other misc. facts: I'm a runner, play league roller hockey occasionally, play a little guitar (both real & guitar hero), went to undergrad at Indiana U. where I studied finance, and I like outdoor activities like skiing, rafting, tubing, scuba, altho oddly I'm not a big camper. Looking forward to heading home in August & seeing all my fellow staggers!

ya got me
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 7:03 PMhey everybody, my name is Nathan. I will be a second time burner this year. I am excited about camping with you guys. When i went home in 05 i had a great time except for the camp i was in. LDL liquid diet lounge. They are great people but they didn't deal with me or all of the newbies from colorado that were camped with them. I understand that it can be annoying to be with lots of newbies for a camp that has been going for over a decade, but would have appreciated a little compasion. anyway, I love newbies, and I love open minded self sufficient people. It was interesting reading the threads from stag 07 on eplaya. I loved how the tone changed as it got closer to the burn. I had to have a drink after i read them cause i was so excited. then i realized not till aug. oh well. Im going to school for anthropology, hopefully going to go to Africa or South America to fight hiv/malaria. Find better ways to help people help themselves. Im 35 and gay. I've been an underground house dj for fifteen years. I only spin at conscious events. I spin house, as well as music from the 70's 80's 90's I have childrens records sounds of nature etc. your basic audiophile geek. I plan to spin at a few camps that are large scale music camps, but don't have any desire to spend the whole week with them. BM is sooooooooooo much more than raving...!!!!!!! I was wondering however how the dj thing worked last year at your camp? I would love to spin a few sunset sets on the playa. I have my own equipment and genny. would that be a possibility? I love to have a cocktail at sunset on the playa and get a little boggie on. I don't want to spin all week nor do i want to bother anyone. Anyway. I hope to get to know all of you here before the burn. Its great fun to meet people on line and then meet them in person. Its a great reality fuck. so now im just babbling. I have all stuff except for gray water disposal Im working on that one now. also was thinking of getting a parachute for large scale shade not sure exactly how to work that though. Hope you guys are ready to meet a cool fun happy person, who puts his heart into everything he does!!!!! can't wait to come home for the second time. Nathan

Re: Introduce Yourself
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 1:25 PMOkay, finally made it over here to 2.0. Life has been busy with lots of work hours and life in general. For those that don't know me, my ePlaya name is Somnivore. I was fortunate enough to get in on the ground floor of Stag camp last year with Sam, Mots, Plowman and the others. The best group of people I've had the fortune of calling my friends. I'm missing all of you badly and hope August will find me back home.
I'm 43 (shit, I don't feel that old) straight male Nurse (is that an oxymoron or what) and Paramedic from Florida. My forte is Flight Medicine, but my love is motorcycles and old cars. I prefer a cold Guinness or Tucher as my beers of choice and Jack Daniels when I'm ready to get my attitude on. I've been a slacker lately when it comes to keeping up on the goings on here, but I'm trying. Peace to all, dreaming of the feel of the playa on my skin. -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 2:27 PMHey Tom, along with you "ground floor" guys, I was the first female to chime into this camp.... so moving and updating my intro to Stag Camp 2.0 is overdue.... maybe with my credentials, I can add some value to my "2 cent" contributions...
I'm Debby the "Redheaded Viking Vixen". You can call me Red or Vix. I'm a 54 year old SWF, Aquarian, Water Snake (chinese astro), and naturist, living in Sacramento with my 2 black cats, Luck and Luna, as well as my son Matt, who came back home to finish his last year in college. I've lived in Sac town for the last 6 years, moving from the northern region of San Francisco Bay Area where I lived most of my adult life. Before that it was Minnesota, Maryland and Virginia. This will be my 4th burn, and have learned something new each year to improve for the next. I tend to be an exhaustive planner and organizer when it comes to this event. I've been fortunate to have stayed in a self contained trailier the past 3 years, and hoping to nail down something similiar this year. I've posted my share RV rental opportunity under the ride sharing topic on this Tribe site before I go to eplaya.
Professionally, I'm a manager in the default world of bureacratic boondoggling. Personally, I'm sort of experiencing a self recreation and not quite sure when it will end or where it will take me, but I am enjoying the journey. Other than that I would say I am very easy going, creative, passionate, and have a great sense of humor. I love music and dance, mostly rock, jazz fusion and some techno. Someday I'll master the didgeridoo. And now I'm hoping I can learn how to spin poi, if not fire by August and to volunteer with Earth Guardians. I also want to follow trhrough with the camp art project for the crane as part ot the Temple of Community challenge. Oh and I should add, that now that its obtainable in California... Kubler my new drink of choice.... Absinthe really does make the heart grow fonder... LOL Maybe Joe can add that his mobile playa bar.
I just wanted to add that last year was my first year with a camp....or should I say more like a gathering that grew everyday. It was amazing how a group of complete strangers of varied backgrounds, ages, home towns, talents and degrees of burner experience all found their way. But this camp turned out to be the best group of playa mates anyone could hope to find... albeit once the newbies caught on to the LNT principal and knew what to do with those empty beer cans LOL... It was also a very generous group, always sharing... from glowsticks to booze... We had a table with every kind of liquor imaginable, but never enough beer or ice to keep it cold. Under the appropriate topic I will add my comments for setting up a community area for the camp now that we have so many more newbies. Last year it wasn't quite big enough when everyone was there.....
The sun is out, life is good and the man will burn.... but hopefully not the first night...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 12:05 AMHey everyone,
I'm Jason a.k.a. Ebby. Thought I'd post up first to see if there is still room in the Stag camp and to introduce myself.
I was all set to camp with Stag last year, but had to cancel my trip to the burn at the last minute due to family concerns. I've been off playa for waaaay to long and want to go back with a nice laid back group of folks.
I like to travel. Mostly from one national park to the next. Spend a lot of time exploring, kayaking, hiking, and photographing before moving on to the next campsite. I'm an animator / film-maker. I count myself pretty lucky because it's more fun than work and it gives me tons of time off to travel. I live in the east bay with my beautiful partner, nineteen year old dog, a crazy fat rabbit, and turtoise that someone abandoned and I found in our orchard. Speaking of orchard, we always have tons of fruit dripping off the trees come late august. If anyone is interested in nibbling on anything let me know and I can pack some up. We have oranges, clementines, pears, lemons, apples, plums, grapes, blackberries, etc... Just let me know. I'll probably have extra room heading out to the playa if anyone needs a lift from the sf area.

Fri, April 25, 2008 - 12:11 AMThere is always room in stag camp.... :) and dude if you borough oranges, apples, and some lemons i think i would bow down and call you god lol..all i know is this year i am brining less dry food ( I.E tuna and romen noodles ) and more real food ( I.E fruit veggies meat BACON!!! { actually might not bring much of that depends cause if my GF comes back from Canada to live with me we are getting a pet pig so we will probley decrease or cut pork our of our diet complete} etc) -

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 1:02 PMhey all. call me ben. that's my real name. i don't have a playa name yet because this year will be my first burn. i've been dying to go to bm for years now and finally this is my year to do it.
i work in post-production for film/tv in burbank, ca. occasionally i do on-set work on the side. i'm hoping to pitch in as much as i can at the burn this year.
so besides what i've already learned, what is stag camp like? has an exact location been chosen for it yet? -

Re: Introduce Yourself
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 6:28 PMI said "hi" over in the e-playa thread, but thought I'd drop a line here too.
My name is Jason. I'm a cg artist from Portland, Oregon. I dj (don't we all?), mostly downtempo at art galleries. Becoming a professional artist ended up involving less hands-on creativity and more behind a computer in the dark monotony. My wife and I are doing burning man for the first time this year. I doubt I'll have some sort of spiritual experience, but I do hope to experience something out of the ordinary, and maybe meet some new friends. That's good enough for me. My wife and I both like the idea of stag camp, and would love to meet you all.

Re: Introduce Yourself
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 11:08 PMOh, for god sakes, I am no less of a friggin Neandrathal than a year ago. I have no clue as to where this might end up or if my stag bro's and sisters will see it. TJ here, back on radar and jazzed for 2.0. I'd love to see at least one " in camp" party so that all of us can bond like last year, and oh yes by the way, started my carrer this spring at age 43 as a professional male stripper. Someone please point out any job that is better than one where you earn an average of over 200 tax free dollars an hour having colledge girls rub oil on you, and I'll apply immediately. I miss all of you intensely, and I will make it there if I
