It starts today.
"It's that time of season, it's that time of year.....The Allen County Fair is here!"
I am SO sick of hearing that jingle I could puke.
I used to go every year, but then it turned into a big budget breaker. I swear it would be cheaper to go to Cedar Point by the time it's all said and done.
BUT....we are probably going to go on Sunday, at least for awhile.
Gotta love the smells of the fair! Brats, French fries, elephant ears.
Cotton candy, Italian sausage, candy apples, carnies marinated in a BO sauce.
Ahhhh...

Fri, August 18, 2006 - 11:48 AMPlease refrain from saying the word FUNNEL around me! It reminds me of the tornado that has really screwed our summer up. Not to mention the house.

At the Northwest Washington Faire, the Dairy Farmers Wives has a booth that sells home made ice cream sandwiches (homemade icecream AND home made cookies). ANd the Young Life booth as BBQ Beef sandwiches. Curly Fries. One year Jan and Dean were performing. Another year it was Johnny Cash. The tractor pulls, the horse and carriage competitions.

Re: COUNTY FAIR
Sat, August 19, 2006 - 11:54 AMI lived in Ohio for thirty-some years before I got around to attending the Ohio State Fair. Having attended a few small county fairs, I had low expectations. It was really great! We had a wonderful time. The best of everything was on display from veggies to animals! Dog shows, rabbit shows, etc. The OSU Dairy students had homemade ice cream that was to die for. The one thing that I really loved was called a Lemon Shake. They hand-squeezed a lemon half into a hand-shaker, added crushed ice, 1 tsp of sugar and a little water. Then they shook it all for about 30 seconds and poured into a tall cup. I have never tasted anything so refreshing! Do try this at home. Have fun at the fair, Steph! If they have Lemon Shakes - have one for me!
