Haven't posted to the group in a long time - I've been focusing on school and getting some freelance gigs...

ANYWAY....are there any other fellow NYers in the house???
I've noticed a TON of new paste-ups from Judith Supine, Bast, and other beloved street artists around Williamsburg and Soho in the past month or so...

There is a type of photography......

...but can't remember for the life of me what it is...

It's a French(?) term..., and it's a type or practice of photgraphy wherein the shooter DOES NOT think about what they are shooting at all...Literally just take a pic..., not 'pointing' beforehand at a particular subject.., just 'letting it happen', to see what intersting scenes are captured...
Has to do with chance, and happenstance, etc......

Saw it discussed on some public access show few months ago..., for a gallery show, featuring this type of photgraphy.. I have since tried it- with some interesting/neat/cool AND stupid results....

But can anybody help me with the proper term for it.... ?
(and 'bhullshite', is NOT it.... smile)

online galleries with sales option - success stories ?

I feel kinda lonely without my dSLR but money is quiet tight these days and thought maybe I can finance the repair
(got a quote from Olympus) or even a new camera by selling photographs I have taken before. Need to mention that
I never had a chance to showcase my work and so it's an experience for sure to see what other people think .....

I'm sure there's tons of webpages out there (started googling already) where artists - not only photographers per se -
can showcase their work and also at the same time offer their works for sale.
As always there is upsides and downsides and so I am wondering

Does anybody have any experiences selling their photography that way .... ?

You can PM me or respond in this forum, pretty sure I'm not the only one having that thought once in a while to share
their point of view with others the way I'm looking into right now.

Film or Digital or Both?

Just curious as to what people like to use for street photos - film or digital? My preference is for film, because all of the digital cameras that I have are too slow - shutter lag or focus lag....

To me, street photography isn't just about capturing graffiti, street artists, and urban decay - it documents the heart and soul of a city - whether it's the architecture or the people, it's all relevant.
